Driver's license suspended for 2 years? Learn about the strictest traffic law in the Brazilian Traffic Code and how it works. Traffic fines for unsuspecting drivers can reach R$6.

CNH suspended for up to 24 months with this fine transit: The main purpose of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) is to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians. However, few people know that certain violations can result in the immediate suspension of a driver's license, in addition to generating significant fines. In this article, we will address a traffic law that has surprised many drivers by imposing two of the most severe penalties provided for in the code.

Traffic fines can reach R$6

This is the famous traffic law when driving under the influence of alcohol. Any driver caught under the influence of alcohol will have their license suspended for 12 months.

According to information from the AutoSport, the driver must still pay a traffic fine of R$2.934,70. However, the penalty may be even worse in case of a repeat offense during the punishment period. Therefore, in case of a repeat offense, the amount of the traffic fine will double, reaching R$5.869,40, and may also have your driver's license suspended for 24 months.

Furthermore, if the breathalyzer test is equal to or greater than 0,34 milligrams per liter of air, the driver may be held criminally liable, with imprisonment ranging from six months to three years. In fact, the driver is not required to take a breathalyzer test, however, the The Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) provides for a suspended driver's license for 12 months and a fine of R$2.934,70.

However, in addition to the penalties imposed by traffic laws, it is important to highlight the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Alcohol affects concentration, visual and auditory capacity, spatial perception, reaction time, and other senses of drivers. Therefore, it is possible for the driver to cause an accident and put his or her life and the lives of others at risk.

Understand the traffic law that can keep your driver's license suspended

Despite being a fairly strict traffic fine, it is necessary to understand the initiatives behind the traffic law. Only in 2022, drivers with suspected drunkenness caused more than 325 thousand accidents across the country, almost 50% more than what was recorded the previous year, according to data from the National Traffic Secretariat. In the last two years, irresponsibility has killed more than 2.400 people.

According to the Federal Highway Police, in the first two months of 2023 alone, there were 539 accidents caused by drunk drivers. Alysson Coimbra, a doctor who is part of the “It Wasn't an Accident” movement, warns about the effects that any alcoholic beverage has on those who drive.

According to Coimbra, the presence of alcohol in the body compromises most of the senses, vision, perception, and judgment. It is important to understand that, no matter how small the amount of alcohol, it is a crime and driving is prohibited.

New laws that come into effect in 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, two new traffic laws will come into effect throughout Brazil, and they are already causing concern among drivers. The changes include a mandatory exam for the renewal of the National Driver's License (CNH) and a new rule related to the conditions of vehicle rearview mirrors.

The new laws, which can result in traffic fines, aim to increase road safety and ensure that drivers are in adequate conditions to drive. The changes were approved by the National Traffic Council (Contran) at the end of 2023 and aim to meet the growing demands for greater safety on Brazilian roads.

CONTRAN, which is going to the surface in C because it doesn't make strict laws for bicycles that are so annoying on the streets with so much high IPVA tax, comes to want to demand ridiculous things, just to take away the rights of taxpayers, they're going to do something that's worth **** of ****

Lives are thus taken by people's ignorance, then they blame the IPVA and taxes, but the blame goes to those who drank and killed people by being run over, they don't give taxes, it's very inhumane. Worse **** and without explanation, you hear this... people can say this every day.

There should also be a law for pedestrians, since many of them put drivers' lives at risk by crossing in front of cars and passing under pedestrian crossings. For them, this situation goes unnoticed. And another thing, pedestrians running traffic lights. We pay a lot to have our vehicles on the road, it's really disgusting😡
