The discovery of white hydrogen in coal mines represents a significant advance for the clean energy sector. Find out why this fuel of the future can be so advantageous.

Hydrogen has been highlighted globally as a pillar for achieving a more sustainable economy and for reduction of carbon emissions, being considered the fuel of the future. However, commercial hydrogen production generally requires the electrolysis of water to separate hydrogen from oxygen, a process that consumes a significant amount of energy. If this energy does not come from clean sources, hydrogen production may not be as sustainable as desired.

Understand how white hydrogen can 'unlock' the clean energy market

In this scenario, natural hydrogen, also called white hydrogen due to its purity, is seen as a game changer by scientists, as it is a potential source of clean energy continuously generated by the Earth.

The reservoirs of fuel of the future They form when heated water encounters iron-rich rocks. According to the United States Geological Survey, just a small fraction of these deposits could provide enough clean energy to last hundreds of years.

That's why in Lorraine, a region of France, scientists celebrated when, by sending a small probe down a well 800 meters into the Earth's crust, they found bubbles in the water table that signaled a potentially gigantic cache of white hydrogen.

Tests suggested that 46 million to 260 million metric tons of natural hydrogen could be lurking beneath coal mines, which were abandoned in the 1970s, and could be a huge source of clean energy.

The discovery of Jacques Pironon, senior researcher and professor at the University of Lorraine and Philippe de Donato, both members of France's respected National Center for Scientific Research, generated a huge impact, where the government promised to become a European leader in White hydrogen.

White hydrogen discovered in 1970s coal mines may be world's largest reservoir

According to Pironon, hydrogen is magical, when you burn it it releases water, so there are no carbon emissions to heat the planet. O researcher claims they have possibly discovered one of the largest deposits of white hydrogen in the world in coal mines, being able to generate a lot of clean energy. There are still many doubts about the discovery of the fuel of the future, including its exact size and the best way to extract the gas.

This discovery joins a body of evidence from around the world indicating that a true “Holy Grail” of clean energy may be accessible on Earth. According to the US Geological Survey, only a small portion of these deposits would be capable of providing clean energy for hundreds of years.

Geoffrey Ellis, geochemist at the US Geological Survey and renowned hydrogen expert, commented on the discovery in France, stating that, if confirmed, it would represent an extremely significant milestone, with the potential to profoundly impact society. There are several other regions around the world where similar discoveries could occur, and the scientific community is investigating these possibilities because of their transformative potential.

Fuel of the future receives investments massive

Governments and companies around the world have been betting on white hydrogen as a way to fight climate change and generate clean energy.

A multibillion-dollar industry, backed by billions of dollars in subsidies and private investment, has emerged to support hydrogen manufacturing, which in theory could replace fossil fuels to power factories, ships, trucks and planes.

This will potentially remove about half of all planet-warming emissions. Harness clean energy from wind turbines and solar panels to generate green hydrogen It's cleaner, but more expensive. In this way, the discovery in coal mines could be a major advance in the sector.

The great advantage of this type of fuel is the possibility of adapting existing infrastructure and technologies for the extraction of natural gas.

We are facing a biofuel of the future, whose extraction, maintenance and commercial use processes are now beginning to be studied.
The big advantage is that it is clean energy.
I believe that the extraction process will be made cheaper with new technologies that will be developed quickly.
The planet is in urgent need of this energy.
Congratulations to the discoverers, to the selfless people who want to leave a better world to live in for the next generations. Hugs. Ed

A simple question: What will the withdrawal affect? What will be the damages?
Future impacts.? One
