Importance of the Comgás Distribution System
Comgás, recognized as the largest piped gas distributor in Latin America, is carrying out an important project to interconnect the natural gas distribution system, which supplies the municipalities of Mogi das Cruzes and Suzano, to the system that serves the Guararema region, Jacareí and São José dos Campos. Benefits of the New Interconnection Project
This initiative not only guarantees greater operational security but also ensures uninterrupted supply*, in addition to increasing capacity to serve new consumers. In Mogi das Cruzes, Comgás currently has 500 km of pipelines in operation, which supply piped gas to more than 33,5 homes, 380 commercial establishments, five CNG stations and 32 industries. Until then, this region had been supplied exclusively by a main gas pipeline from Suzano.
Infrastructure Investments
With an investment of R$50 million, the interconnection project between Mogi das Cruzes and Guararema is scheduled to be completed by December 2024. The new underground gas pipeline will be 24 km long. In the urban area, excavation and installation operations have been carried out in an 8 km stretch, which begins near the Tiro de Guerra military base in Mogi das Cruzes, crosses Avenida Francisco Rodrigues Filho and Rodovia Henrique Eroles until reaching its finishing in Guararema.
Work Methodology for Lower Environmental Impact
To reduce disruption to the local community, Comgás adopts a non-destructive construction method that aims to minimize negative impacts on daily life in the region, reduce construction time reinforcement works and mitigate damage to pavements.
