Ternium Brasil, which owns a steel plant located in Santa Cruz, disclosed the investment of US$ 40 million, approximately R$ 210 million, in the construction of a technical school in Rio de Janeiro.
A technical school in Rio de Janeiro will be named after Roberto Rocca and should be ready by 2025. Developed to teach electromechanics and mechatronics, the unit honors the Italian-Argentine businessman who died in 2003 and was created by the newly created Ternium Institute.
According to Fernanda Candeias, director of the Ternium Institute, “the focus of our actions is always to develop Santa Cruz”. The project will feature infrastructure that will be used also by the community, such as an auditorium and sports courts.
Ternium, a steel company acquired from German Thyssenkrupp for five years, it has been preparing to build a school with a maximum capacity of 576 students. Located on the banks of the Rio-Santos Highway, the college will occupy 8,8 square meters of built area on a plot of 161,6 square meters.

The works of technical school in Rio de Janeiro start in three months and the forecast is that it will be ready in 2025, when the school's activities begin with 192 students in their first year of high school. The financial responsibility for the new school is under Ternium's care, with annual costs estimated to reach US$ 4 million (R$ 21 million).
Students will have different scholarships, but none of them will be full. The monthly fees have not yet been informed, but they must be accessible and consistent with the local income. This new technical unit will be called Colégio Estadual Erich Walter Heine, honoring the president of the CSA who died in the Air France accident in 2011.
