The duration of the FUNAI public tender has yet to be confirmed, however, the document confirms that they may be extended, according to the needs of the body.

Another FUNAI public competition with temporary vacancies

It is worth mentioning that in 2024 Funai has already received another approval for a competition with temporary vacancies, whose preparations have already begun. Since the approval was issued in September, the deadline for the announcement is March of this year. In this first authorization, the approval aims to generate 25 vacancies at FUNAI for professionals to work in technical activities of intellectual complexity, in the following positions:

  • Environmental licensing manager: two vacancies; and
  • Environmental analyst: ten vacancies;
  • Manager in land regularization of indigenous lands: one vacancy.
  • Analyst in land regularization of indigenous lands: one vacancy;
  • Analyst in georeferencing of indigenous lands: one vacancy;
  • Socio-environmental analyst: ten vacancies.

The contracts will be awarded for a period of up to four years, with the possibility of extension. The selection of the organizing committee has already begun. Interested institutions had until December 9 to submit their proposals. The results of the bidding process should be announced in the coming weeks.

FUNAI makes request for 751 permanent vacancies

FUNAI is not limiting itself to temporary hires and is also seeking authorization for a new public selection process with 751 vacancies for permanent staff at FUNAI. The request was forwarded to the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI). According to information from the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, the opportunities are distributed as follows:

  • Higher education: 283 vacancies for the career of specialist in indigenous affairs;
  • Intermediate level: 468 vacancies for the career of indigenous technician.

Although the specialist career includes several positions, the MPI did not specify which positions will be offered. In the case of indigenous technician, the position corresponds to the former indigenous agent position, which was included in the last Funai notice.

It is important to mention that the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples received, in 2023, authorization to fill 502 vacancies at FUNAI in mid- and senior-level positions.

There is no public competition for temporary contracts. Temporary contracts are made through a selection process, PSS, and not through a public competition. Public competitions are for permanent employees.
