In the last STM public contest, held in 2010, there were 153 positions, with 122 allocated for analysts and 31 for technical positions. Certain conditions were required, such as having Brazilian or Portuguese nationality; having political rights; complying with military duties in the case of male candidates; complying with electoral duties; being at least 18 years old; among other formal requirements.
Candidates for the various positions took two tests: one objective and one subjective. The objective test of the STM public contest had 50 questions on basic knowledge and 70 on specific knowledge.
On its part, the subjective test for the STM Public Contest occurred only for analyst positions. It was eliminatory and classificatory in nature. Thus, it involved a discursive text of up to 30 lines regarding a topic related to the specific knowledge of the respective area.
