The new pickup truck is coming with everything it needs to displace Fiat Toro and redefine the compact pickup truck market. We'll tell you everything about the news that Nissan and Renault are bringing and how this will affect your choices when changing cars.

Nissan's new pickup truck promises innovations that will shake up the market, directly rivaling the Fiat Toro. Manufactured in Argentina and using cutting-edge technology, this launch is ready to change the rules of the game in the compact pickup truck segment.

Renault has already presented its new compact pickup concept, which will replace the Oroch and promises to be a direct opponent of the Fiat Toro. It does not stop there! Nissan has confirmed that it is also developing its own new compact pickup truck, based on the same platform but with an extra touch of sophistication and refinement. That's right, the dispute is getting interesting!

The new pickup: details that make the difference

Ricardo Flamini, president of Nissan Argentina, revealed at the end of last year that the Japanese company is developing its new compact pickup truck. Produced in Argentina, it not only prevents import taxes for us Brazilians, but also promises to compete directly with Toro in several aspects.

Capacity and design

Nissan's new pickup truck will be around 5 meters long, with a wheelbase of 3 meters, 1,85 meters wide and 1,70 meters high. Nicknamed “half-ton”, the pickup supports up to 500 kg in the bed, similar to its rivals.

Inspired by the look of the Kicks, the pickup will feature a Piano Black front grille, full LED headlights, 18-inch wheels and rear lights connected by a Piano Black bar.

Technology and engine

Built on the CMF-B platform, which also supports the new Kicks 2025. Nissan's new pickup will come with a hybrid engine based on the 1.5 Turbo block, offering 204 horsepower and a torque of 33,6 kgf·m. This system, known as e-POWER, does not need to be plugged in and promises surprising consumption of up to 21 km/l in the city.

Interior and comfort

The new Nissan pickup will have items such as electrically adjustable seats, remote start, Bose premium sound system, digital climate control, sunroof and a 12-inch multimedia screen with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Advanced systems such as collision warning with autonomous braking, cross-traffic alert, license plate reading and adaptive cruise control will be present.

Renault's new pickup truck

While Nissan prepares its launch, Renault is not left behind with its Niagara. Also based on the CMF-B platform, Renault's new pickup promises to compete with both the Montana and the simpler Toro versions. The Niagara concept has already made it clear that Renault's new pickup will be robust and full of features.

The new pickup trucks from Nissan and Renault are about to revolutionize the market of compact pickup trucks. With launches scheduled for 2025, both the new pickup trucks from Nissan and Renault promise a lot of technology, comfort and performance, putting Fiat Toro's reign into question.
