Itaboraí Petrochemical Complex (Comperj)
The promise made 12 years ago was to transform Itaboraí into a major hub for fuels and chemical products, where a refinery with capacity to process 150 barrels of oil would operate.
Currently, Petrobras is investing BRL 4 billion in the area of the former Comperj for the implementation of a project that will provide an outlet for natural gas from the pre-salt layer. The works are expected to start in 2021.
Defense of Petrobras
According to Petrobras, the company is up to date with its obligations to all companies contracted for Comperj, and that they are responsible for paying employees.
