One of the main companies idealized by Getúlio Vargas, during the period of greatest growth of his government, it continues its growth since privatization during the 1990s, more specifically in 1993, and occupies the main position in the group that bears its name. As its most recent measure to boost its development, the company acquired part of the land where the Ford assembly plant was located, in the municipality of Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo.
According to Veja magazine, CSN bought 50% of the property acquired by São José Desenvolvimento Imobiliário, after the closure of Ford's manufacturing unit, two years ago. In addition to this, the automaker also ended activities at two other factories: Camaçari (BA) and Belo Horizonte (MG).
Confirmation of the purchase of the former Ford pavilions by CSN was published this week in the Official Gazette. CSN will be responsible for manufacturing, among other mining products, coatings for boxes, steel parts and cans. In this way, job vacancies can be made available for the mining sector in the Taubaté region.

CSN aims at possible relocation of one of the group's can manufacturing units, Prada. Such an event can promote job openings for mining on site
According to CSN, the installation of the manufacturer Prada in the region where the Ford factory was located still depends on the authorization of state and municipal authorities, which should analyze the positive impacts, such as the generation of job openings, and the negative ones, such as possible environmental impacts resulting from mining activities.
According to a statement made by CSN, the investment business of cans, boxes and steel materials of the company Prada corresponds to about 2% of the group's total revenue, which is mainly composed of large companies in the mining sector, responsible for a large part of the supply of derivatives of this activity, both to Brazil and to other countries.
