Images and videos of residents of Itaboraí in protest were sent to our newsroom, they demand that vacancies at Comperj be for residents of Conleste

Comperj is going through another stage of controversy this Tuesday (20). Residents and professionals from the city of Itaboraí and the Conleste region closed the entrance to the works today, buses taking and bringing employees do not pass. The vehicles are returning along the highway (BR) and parking at the Ipiranga station until the situation is normalized, at the end of the article it is possible to check some images.

According to additional information that reached our team, the windows of the CPL bus were broken. Employees were released from office today and returned home until the situation is resolved.

It is already common knowledge that the Petrobras decided to stop the works of Comperj (Petrochemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro), which according to the state-owned company, the lack of interest of the Chinese CNPC was the catalyst for this decision, since the undertaking would be financially unfeasible.

What is being built in the locality is a UPGN (Natural Gas Processing Unit) that will receive piped gas from the pre-salt layer.

Despite the news that Comperj will no longer continue, the president of Petrobras himself, Castello Branco, said in a note that Itaboraí will not remain in the lurch. There are studies so that instead of the refinery, a thermoelectric plant will be built to use pre-salt gas, in addition to a high quality lubricant factory that will also use intermediate products from Reduc.
