China built the highest bridge in the world with a million-dollar investment. Called the Duge Bridge, this project was considered an “impossible feat” by engineering, using innovative technologies in its construction.
Considered a true “impossible feat” of Chinese engineering, the Duge Bridge, also known as Beipanjiang, is the highest bridge in the world, rising an impressive 565 meters above the ground. Check out all the details of this extraordinary work of engineering and understand how China managed to build such a monumental structure. We will discuss the technological innovations and challenges overcome to make this architectural marvel a reality.
Tallest bridge in the world cost R$866 million
Also known as Duge Bridge, its construction was completed in 2016. Being the first bridge in the world to overcome the barrier of Meters 500. In addition to the record height, the crossing is not the shortest, as it is 720 meters over the Beipan River, between the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou, in southwestern China.
Construction of the world's tallest bridge in China began in 2013 and cost around R$866 million. The bridge was completed on September 10, 2016 and was inaugurated on December 29, 2016. Recognition as the highest bridge in the world came only in 2018, at Guinness World Records.
- Brazil's first underwater tunnel! The project, valued at almost 6 BILLION, will pass through the SEA and reduce the journey from 50 to 2 minutes, but there is a problem: the Ministry and the Government disagree on the launch of the project
- The Brazilian state is trying to rebuild itself and to do so it will undergo a revolution with investments of MORE than 1 BILLION to rebuild roads and bridges
- The state of São Paulo will gain a NEW international airport! The project, which already has a date to be completed and generate 5 THOUSAND jobs, will have a federal company responsible for its administration
- The WORLD'S first ship tunnel: A €308 million megaproject that will transform shipping and save lives
The Duge Bridge is part of the Hangzhou-Ruili Highway (G56) between Qujing and Liupanshui. The eastern tower is 269 meters high, making it one of the tallest bridge towers in the world. In this way, the highest bridge in the world follows the “get staid”, like the one located in the Brooklin neighborhood, in São Paulo. This type of structure is made from one or more towers, from which cables support the bridge.
The construction process of the Duge Bridge
The bridge, with a height equivalent to a 200-story building, is one of three bridges on the Bijie-Duge section of the Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway, a road that connects the cities of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province and Ruili in the Autonomous Region. Dehong, Yunnan province.
As it was built over a steep gorge with complicated geological conditions, the Duge Bridge created the need for new technologies and construction methods.
The company responsible for building the bridge also completed a research project for the Chinese Ministry of Transport during its construction.
They also received a number of awards for their construction project, including four patents for the invention of world-leading new technologies, seven patents for new utility models, a Gustav Lindenthal Gold Medal, considered the Nobel Prize in the field of bridge construction, and the highest Science and Technology Award from the China Highway and Transportation Society.
China sets new record with its new bridge meters of 625
If the more than 500 meters of the Duge Bridge are already frightening, the Chinese are thinking of more. Located in the Huajiang Grand Canyon, with a vertical height of 625 meters from the bridge deck to the water surface, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is expected to become the tallest bridge in the world upon completion in 2025. This way, it will reduce travel time through the canyon from about an hour to just a minute.
In fact, engineers from China are also Working in plans for the Yongchang Lancangjiang Bridge in Yunnan. The project will be 610 meters high and will not be completed until 2027.
China also has the longest bridge on the planet, being the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge, a 164,8-kilometer-long viaduct that carries high-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai.
I congratulate the Chinese, doctors in cutting-edge technologies, for their achievement.
