The wave of dismissals in the country now reaches the state of Sergipe, where Grupo Dok alone has more than 500 employees dismissed. In addition, the wave of layoffs also led to the closure of one of the factories.
At the end of January, Grupo Dok fired 517 employees from two factories located in Sergipe, one in Frei Paulo and another in Salgado, the latter being closed. A company attributes the cause of the layoffs to the breach of contract with the Puma brand. On the subject, the governor of Sergipe declared that the state made itself available to help in the company's restructuring process. Employees disconnected from the factory are awaiting approval of their severance pay.

In Frei Paulo, 330 employees were dismissed, while the Salgado production unit, in addition to dismissing all 187 employees, closed its doors.
On January 21, workers at the Sergipe production units complained about the delay wage through a protest.
At the time, they indicated that they were apprehensive because Grupo Dok had filed a request for judicial recovery in the city of Birigui (SP), where the group's headquarters is registered.
In a comment, the president of the Union of Workers in the Footwear, Spinning and Weaving industries of the municipalities of Carira, Frei Paulo, Ribeirópolis and Lagarto (Sindcafit), Roniclécio Alves, stated: “We fight to help in whatever way possible to keep the jobs of work, but even so we did not succeed”.
Governor of Sergipe speaks about the Dok Group and the dismissal of employees
Fábio Mitidieri, governor of Sergipe, informed in a note that he held a meeting with the president and the company's legal advisor to discuss the financial problem that led to the dismissal of employees at the factories.
Mitidieri also added that the Sergipe government made itself available to help with the company's restructuring process.
Continuing, he also commented that the company would be going through a process of financial reformulation and gradually resuming economic activity. According to the governor, “the businessman is committed to keeping the company running and has already committed to paying employees on time, as he wants to invest again in the state of Sergipe and generate more jobs, continuing activities in Frei Paulo with the desire to continue investing”.
In the Sergipe production units, in addition to producing its own labels (Dok, Dijean and Ortopé), Grupo Dok also works producing for the Arezzo and Puma brands, through the private label format.
According to the director of Sindcafit, "the company alleges that the dismissals occurred due to the termination of the contract with Puma".
There were attempts to contact the Dok Group and the Union of Footwear Industries of the State of Sergipe, however there was no position on what happened.
For now, employees from the Sergipe factories dismissed by the Dok Group are waiting for the end of the deadline for the legal process of approval of the severance accounts to be carried out, which corresponds to a period of 10 days from the date on which layoffs took place.
