In the world of public tenders, where every opportunity is seen as a passport to stability and professional fulfillment, unexpected news has just shocked thousands of Brazilians who dreamed of becoming postmen at the Post Office.

The state-owned postal services and delivery giant surprised everyone by announcing the revocation of the bidding process for the competition that promised more than 3 vacancies, leaving a trail of uncertainty and frustrated expectations.

But all is not lost: the details of this turnaround, the reasons behind the decision and what to expect from the new notice may be more promising than one might imagine. The news came to light on July 23, when the Post Office confirmed the official revocation of the tender that would define the organizing committee of the long-awaited competition for postmen.

The competition, which would offer 3,2 vacancies for the position of postman, in addition to other opportunities for different levels of education, is temporarily suspended until the bidding process reopens with a new basic project. According to information from Folha Ficada, this decision had already been considered since June 2024, but the confirmation took many by surprise.

Reasons for revocation

Correios justified the revocation of the bid based on the need for adjustments to the basic design of the competition. The objective is to include new job specifications and a better distribution of vacancies by region, as detailed in the report released by the company.

According to Correios, the previous project did not adequately meet the necessary requirements for an effective and fair selection, which included the lack of detailed information about positions and vacancies.

Among the reasons listed for the revocation, the need to increase the economic efficiency of the event stands out. “The current contract would not meet all the requirements of the competition, which, in a later phase, will include seventy new requirements in detailing the contractor's obligations and responsibilities, providing greater efficiency and quality,” Correios stated in an official statement.

Furthermore, the state-owned company plans to increase the number of cities where the tests will be administered, from 114 to 228, which will imply significant logistical adjustments, such as hiring more staff and renting spaces to carry out the tests.

The fierce competition between the organizing boards

Before the revocation, 11 panels were in contention to organize the competition, with emphasis on the Institute for Educational, Cultural and National Assistance Development (idecan), who was considered one of the favorites for having presented the lowest bid.

According to the Correios report, Idecan was the only one to file an appeal after the announcement of the intention to revoke, showing interest in continuing in the race. The other panels included the American Development Institute (Iades), Cebraspe, Cesgranrio Foundation, among other renowned institutions.

Expectations for the new competition

Despite the revocation, expectations for the new competition post offices remains high. The state-owned company has already signaled that it intends to hire the new organizing committee by August 2024, with the launch of the notice scheduled for September and hiring to begin in December of this year.

The President of post offices, Fabiano Silva, reaffirmed the company's commitment to holding the competition this year, highlighting the urgency in hiring personnel to meet the growing operational demand.

“This competition will be focused on the operational level, especially for the postman position, as we need to strengthen our delivery points,” said Fabiano Silva in a recent interview. In addition to the postman position, which is the main focus, the competition will also offer vacancies for lawyers, architects, engineers and other higher education professions.

Details of Vacancies and Remuneration

The new Correios competition promises to be one of the most competitive of the year, not only due to the number of vacancies, but also due to the diversity of positions offered.

The position of postman, which is the most awaited, has an attractive starting salary, in addition to benefits such as food vouchers, health insurance and private pension. For the mid-level, the post office agent career will have salaries that can vary from R$2.256,18 to R$11.934,73, depending on length of service and career progression.

For higher-level positions, such as Correios analyst, the starting salary is R$6.557,11, which can reach R$26.013,50 throughout the career. These opportunities are seen as a gateway to a stable and promising career in public administration.
