Former Petrobras economist condemns STF decision and highlights the importance of the state-owned company for Brazil

Cláudio Oliveira commented on the importance of the state company for our country and its main moments in 67 years of history, completed on the last 3rd. Petrobras is a great generator of direct jobs. It, with its subsidiaries and affiliates, forms the Petrobras System, with a workforce of 86108 employees. (PETROBRÁS - Management Report - 2013).

The number of indirect jobs linked to the oil industry is difficult to estimate precisely, but it certainly must be in the order of millions. The fuel resale activity alone, carried out by small and medium-sized Brazilian entrepreneurs, in more than 40 service stations, keeps more than 400 workers active.

Cláudio Criticizes the decision of the STF on the sale of reigns

The ex-Petrobras economist states that he had already expected this and at a previous moment he had even predicted such an event in relation to the STF. “What we can perceive during the trial of the Supreme Court of Justice was something deplorable, some of the ministers judge by earshot and do not even know the subject and that is very serious”' concludes Cláudio Oliveira

Cláudio Oliveira cites the importance of General Júlio Caetano Horta Barbosa for Petrobras

It was that of General Júlio Caetano Horta Barbosa, the first president of the National Petroleum Council, a body created through Decree-Law No. 395, of April 29, 1938. It was under the direction of General Horta Barbosa that the National Petroleum Council discovered the first oil deposits in Brazil, in the Lobato Municipality region, in Bahia, in 1939.

Cláudio argues that the general deserved to be more recognized, but that in the end he was not as popular as people who did not play such an important role.

Economist talks about the Challenges for Petrobras in the coming years

When asked about what would be the main challenges for the market leader in the coming years, Cláudio got straight to the point and said: “Currently, I see Petrobras as an organism that has a cancer in the metastasis stage evolving to destroy the body, but few Brazilians realize that.”

The former Petrobras economist believes that the current situation is almost irreversible, but he still has hope that everything can return to “normal” in the near future. The fate of Petrobras – created by and for the people, being stolen from the market.

The people and the Brazilian economy need a Petrobras that meets the consumption needs of derivatives in all its corners and at the lowest possible prices. Conversely, in the hands of the market, priority will be given to the most profitable regions and always with the highest possible prices.
