China's electric car market is booming. The country reached the sale of 675 units of electric vehicles in September alone.

China is breaking records in the electric car market and the proof of this is in the sales data of New Energy Vehicles (NEV), a range of fully electric, fuel cell and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which last month reached a record of approximately 675 units.

Pure electric vehicles hit 507 registrations in China

Chinese electric car: you will still have one! Will they be cheap? Car from China is good? It is worth it?

In total, there are 43 license plates more than in August, when 632 license plates were issued for electric cars in china, which broke the 600-unit mark for the first time.

This time, another goal was achieved, which demonstrates the great expansion of sustainable mobility in the shadow of the Great Wall. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), pure electric vehicles have reached the milestone of 507 registrations, representing 75,1% of all NEVs. Plug-in hybrids (or PHEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, are also well positioned in sales, with 168 registrations, demonstrating an increase of 195% in the annual comparison.

The contribution of hydrogen models is negligible. However, the incredible numbers, made possible by the increase in June, July, August and September, in which sales always exceeded the limit of 500 thousand units. Throughout this year, there were 4.341.000 deliveries of eletric cars, with an average of 482.333 per month, including exports.

Companies that sell electric cars in China

Moving on to the rankings of automakers, the leader still remains BYD, with 200.973 registrations, of which 94.941 are pure electric cars and 106.032 are hybrids. It is the first time that the brand, now familiar among Europeans and Brazilians, has surpassed this mark of 200 units.

Em Second place goes to Tesla, after largely overcoming the Covid-related problems at Giga Shanghai and having strongly relaunched Chinese production.

Precisely, there were 77.613 electric vehicles sold by Elon Musk, obviously all fully electric, where 5.522 are added, for a total of 83.135, divided into 51.802 Model Y and 31.333 Model 3.

China continues, therefore, to advance in the sector and should continue at this pace in 2023. The other brands also achieved good results:

  • Nio: 10.878;
  • Granddaughter: 18.005;
  • Zeekr: 8.276;
  • Leapmotor: 11.039;
  • Xpeng: 8.468.

In addition to electric cars, Chinese companies are advancing in the discovery of new technologies

Chinese companies have been developing new technologies, such as CATL, which presented its new super battery that can offer, in addition to a range of 1 km, an ultra-fast recharge for electric cars and already has several interested customers, including two automakers from China.

The third generation of CATL's battery system will be used for the first time by the Zeekr brand in its next model which will be launched in the first quarter of next year.

A CATL is making components available to nearly every automaker in China and it is believed that these will move to newer and better technology. Among the standout specs, the system offers 72% volume utilization efficiency, 4C ultra-fast charging, and more.
