Enel and Tim bet on the construction of new solar power plants in Bahia
This Wednesday (24), Tim and Enel X announced a partnership to start building two more solar power plants in Brazil. In progress since April last year, the project, by Tim and Enel, provides for a solar power plant in the city of América Dourada and another in Ibitirá, the two residents of Bahia. Together, Tim and Enel will add more than 24 solar energy panels with a capacity of 9,919 Mega-Watt peak (MWp), enough to supply energy to Tim's 716 sites in the state.

The plants should start operating in the second half of this year and are expected to reduce emissions by 13 tons of CO2 per year. With the innovations Enel X aims to reach 27,1 MWp in solar energy aimed at the industrial sector through photovoltaic cells, a device that uses spontaneous chemical reactions to convert it into electrical energy.
According to the closed business model, the mills' contract with Tim will be valid for 15 years. The plant project, which aims to reduce carbon and distribute clean energy, has been in the company's plans since 2017. The company already has 34 solar, water and biogas power plants, and ended 2020 with 24,5% of its consumption of energy generated by renewable sources.

Solar energy in Tim's plans in 2022
Tim hopes to reach the mark of 60 solar energy units with monthly generation of 38GWh, in 2022. This energy is enough to supply a city with 150 thousand inhabitants. Thinking even further ahead, in 2025, the company aims to reach 90% clean energy.
Bruno Gentil, Director of Business Support at Tim, reinforces the importance of the subject within an agenda aligned with the pillars of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance of the company.
The Director adds: “Renewable sources are important not only to promote cost reduction, but – mainly – to meet a growing demand from society as a whole for clean energy, ensuring the preservation of the environment and the quality of life of the population. We have partners like Enel X, who prioritize solutions for the future, in projects and investments we carry out across the country, in pursuit of energy efficiency”.
