Enel will make a million-dollar investment with the aim of expanding solar energy production at its headquarters. The Horizonte solar plant is located in Bahia and promises to generate thousands of jobs.
A Enel Green Power, the clean energy generation arm of the Enel Group, with extensive presence in the state of Bahia, in the operation of solar and wind power plants, announced that it intends to invest R$ 88 million to modernize the Horizonte solar plant, located in the municipality of Tabocas do Brejo Velho. The announcement was made during the signing of the protocol of intentions with the State of Bahia.
Bahia remains leader in solar energy generation
The signing took place through the Secretariat for Economic Development (SDE), this Tuesday (2). With the modernization of the solar plant in Bahia, the projection is that there will be an increase in the production capacity of solar energy, in addition to promoting the creation of indirect jobs for local workers during the construction phase.
According to the Secretary of Economic Development (SDE), José Nunes, Bahia remains the leader in the total generation of solar energy, corresponding to 30,16% of the Brazilian generation.
- The price of energy in Germany has soared to R$5.864/MWh due to the dunkelflaute, the terror of renewables, while the average cost in Brazil is around R$600/MWh
- High alert in India! The most dangerous work of the century begins at Hirakud, the largest earthen dam in the world
- Government will invest MORE than R$15 BILLION to ease traffic congestion in one of the most populated regions of the Brazilian state
- PUC-Rio at the forefront of innovation! New revolutionary method for green hydrogen, with unprecedented materials, promises clean, safe and ecological energy, leading the race for global sustainability!
The state has great potential for generating electricity from renewable sources. Renewable energies transform the landscapes, the economy and generate jobs and income for several municipalities in Bahia. SDE provides institutional support and monitoring of Enel, from its intention to implement, until its construction, providing all the necessary support in all stages of the process.
Modernization of Enel's solar plant will be completed in 2023
According to Jean Philippe Salvatore, Director of Business Development at Enel Green Power in Brazil, the modernization of the solar plant in Bahia will involve replacing the original inverters with more efficient and modern ones.
According to the director, this change will take place in the coming months, until the beginning of next year and the expectation is that the productivity of the solar plant will be increased as a result of this change. The estimate is that the update of the solar energy plant will be completed in the first quarter of next year. Currently, Bahia has 41 solar power plants in operation, with 1,3 GW of installed capacity. Eight cities in the state benefit from the generation of plants.
They are: Barreiras, Casa Nova, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Guanambi, Juazeiro, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Tabocas do Brejo Velho. Another 180 parks are under construction or already planned for construction. When they are fully functional, the state will reach 8,3 GW of installed power, according to data from the Solar Energy Executive Report, generated by SDE.
Enel partners with Ferrari
Enel X, the group's innovative business line, recently announced a partnership with Ferrari, one of the leading brands in the global luxury sector. The agreement was made for the construction of a solar photovoltaic plant at the headquarters of Prancing Horse, in Italy.
The unit will have more than 3,8 thousand painéis solares installed, generating a maximum power of 1.535 kWp. Enel's system will meet part of the consumption of several units at the automaker's headquarters. In addition, Enel will deliver an innovative project in terms of design and technology, tailor-made for the company.
The solar energy system will allow the company's electric and hybrid cars to be recharged through the solar plant built by Enel X. Performance will be monitored by Enel X's Energy Management System, which will be responsible for displaying real-time data on a LCD screen in the infrastructure.
