Grupo Energisa is making a millionaire investment for the construction of several solar plants in MG, MT, MS and RJ, adding 144 MW of power.

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development – BNDES approved this week a BRL 700 million loan for Grupo Energisa. The amount will be devoted to an investment in 49 solar plants spread across the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.

New investment by Grupo Energisa will benefit 4,5 companies

The solar plants added 144 MW of renewable electrical power and will be installed on roofs, land close to consumption sites and facades. The investment aims to reduce the annual emission of 476 thousand tons of CO2 during its useful life of 25 years.

The initiative with solar plants will benefit more than 4,5 small and medium-sized companies in 28 municipalities. Roberta Godoi, vice-president of energy solutions at (re)Energisa, points out that Grupo Energisa focuses on being a protagonist in energy transition, providing the best clean energy solution for businesses and people and developing a more sustainable world.

Solar power plants have less variability in electricity generation over an annual cycle compared to projects that use water and wind resources, in addition to generating greater security for the electrical system.

Luciana Costa, director of Infrastructure, Energy Transition and Climate Change at the BNDES, emphasizes that Grupo Energisa's investment will bring solar energy distributed to several companies and will provide several benefits.

With this project, Energisa positions itself as the only group in the electricity sector to provide a complete solution in the “one stop shop” concept, in which everything the customer needs is concentrated on a single platform. In addition to the size of the network, the brand is aimed at businesses focused on promoting a low-carbon economy.

Benefits of Grupo Energisa's investment in solar power plants

Clean energy is one of the most promising means of combating climate change, rather than relying on energy sources that emit polluting gases. Solar energy is one of the alternatives that provide greater autonomy for residential and business consumers, in addition to helping with environmental sustainability.

The BNDES and Grupo Energisa project is an example of how companies can help the energy transition in a profitable and advantageous way.

While generating clean energy and jobs, these solar plants can reduce dependence on fossil fuels and thus reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

The transition to a sustainable source is fascinating and requires significant investments. Everyone can contribute to a cleaner future, whether through individual initiatives or through collaborating in partnerships like this one from BNDES and Grupo Energisa. The expectation is that new projects like this one will be present in the future, which will contribute to making the world more sustainable and resilient to climate change.
