A historic energy milestone: Chinese giant CGN partners with Quinto Energy for the implementation of a mega complex of wind and solar energy in Bahia, focusing on green hydrogen.

Last Tuesday (30), CGN Brazil Energy, one of the largest companies in China's energy sector, signed an emblematic agreement with Quinto Energy, a renowned renewable energy company from Bahia. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the executives provides for the installation of an innovative wind and solar energy complex in the backlands of Bahia, which promises to be a major player in the large-scale production of green hydrogen.

Novos Ventos: Signature Ceremony and Inauguration of the Tanque Novo Wind Complex

The partnership was signed during the inauguration of the Tanque Novo Wind Complex, CGN's second largest project in Brazil. On this memorable occasion, which was attended by Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues and was held at Senai Cimatec, CGN demonstrated its robust investment of R$ 1,15 billion in the country's energy development.

With the new agreement, CGN and Quinto plan to establish wind and solar parks with an incredible installed capacity of 14GW, thus marking a significant expansion of CGN in the Brazilian territory. “We are confident in the concept that Quinto Energy is implementing and in the quality of the hydrogen and ammonia projects that we have been studying together,” said André Martini, Director of Business Development at CGN Brazil Energy.

Powerful Partnership: Bahia as the Future of Renewable Fuels

Rafael Cavalcanti, CEO of Quinto, highlighted the magnitude of the partnership. “We have a very strong synergy with CGN, which recognizes Bahia's potential for large-scale production of green hydrogen. With our hybrid source of wind and solar energy, and the interconnected transmission lines, Bahia will lead the process of green refineries in the world”, emphasized Cavalcanti.

CGN Brazil Energy is a reference in renewable energy, working in the development, implementation and operation of projects in this area. Recently, the company took over 100% of the business of Atlantic Energias Renováveis SA, becoming the fifth largest producer of clean energy in Latin America, according to BloombergNEF (BNEF).

On the other hand, Quinto Energy, active in the market for 15 years, specializes in the implementation of wind and solar energy parks, with a portfolio that includes five hybrid complexes with an installed capacity of 14GW. Focused on the large-scale production of green hydrogen, the company owns 2,8 leased and regularized properties, totaling 258 hectares in 15 municipalities in Bahia.

With this partnership, Bahia is positioning itself as a protagonist in the global scenario of renewable energy, opening the doors to a more sustainable and innovative future. Green hydrogen production in the region promises to be competitive in the market, transforming the way we think about energy and sustainability.
