The contract signed with Engecampo is for the completion of unit on train 1 of the Abreu e Lima Refinery, in Ipojuca (PE).
Good news, at the end of June, filled the inhabitants of the municipality of Ipojuca and region, in Recife, with optimism. Rnest, slowly, is having its works resumed.
Despite being on the list of refineries that Petrobras intends to sell, the company Engecampo signed a contract with the state-owned company to complete the construction of a pipeline that will connect the refinery to the Port of Suape.
At the moment, Engecampo is in the process of setting up its construction site, an activity that should last 40 days. According to the Economic Development Director of the municipality of Ipojuca, Gustavo Veiga, “We do not know the order of investment, but the expectation is that around 400 jobs will be generated”.

Petrobras confirmed the contract with Engecampo for the conclusion of the atmospheric emissions reduction unit (SNOX) of train 1 of the Abreu e Lima refinery and also declared, in a note, that the schedule for the new phase of the works is still in progress.
The note added that the work on Engecampo began this June and should be completed by the second half of next year.
It is worth remembering that the Rnest, in Ipojuca, started operating in 2014 with part of its total capacity, which is 230 barrels per day and was the first refinery built by Petrobras after 34 years without this type of construction.
Today, Rnest is authorized to refine 115 barrels per day, as only train 1 was built. Completion of the SNOX Unit is important, as without it, the state Agency for the Environment and Water Resources (CPRH) would only authorize Petrobras to process 100 barrels per day.
Prioritization of local labor
The Administrative Coordinator of Engecampo, Ivan Lopes de Souza, met with the mayor of Ipojuca, Célia Sales, and said that he will prioritize the service of vacancies to people from Ipojuca.
The first vacancies offered will be for Welders, Welder Helpers, Carpenters, Engineers and Assembler mechanic and according to the president of the Union of Workers in the Road Construction, Paving and Earthworks industries in the state of Pernanbuco (Sintepav-PE), Aldo Amaral , the resumption of work will already have a positive impact on the municipality, which today has 25 unemployed since the stoppage of work on the refinery.
