Practice Engineering wins tender for works in substations of Furnas in the north of Rio de Janeiro. The value of the contract was estimated at around BRL 60 million with a duration of almost 4 years of contract
The competition for works in substations in Furnas, won by the company Practical Engineering, is for the implementation in a Turn Key (EPC) regime, of a bank of AT03 345/138-13,8 kV single-phase autotransformers and other equipment associated with its span of Substation (SE) of Campos 19R.
The agreement also applies to the substations located in the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, where adjustments will be made to the 138kV sector of the main bus and the transfer to a double bar with four switches and the installation of adaptive differential protection in the power sector. 138 kV from Campos 20R.

A new bank of three-phase transformers of 225 MVA at 345KV will be implemented in substation 19R. The 20R substation will be built next to the 19R, providing greater maneuverability flexibility and increased security in the supply of consumers in that region.
The work is estimated to be completed in 44 months, however, the Practice is developing the project with the condition of reducing this period to 6 months. The Engineering practice will be responsible for managing the entire contract, in addition to implementing a methodology for carrying out the work that will allow, in addition to reducing the above deadline, less interruptions in the energy supply and greater security in carrying out the project.
The President of Practical Engineering, Sérgio Murilo Nascimento Mota, informs that several challenges are being used for the Practice team. According to him, the main thing is the urgency of the work due to Furnas' strategic need to reduce the fragility of the system in the face of a new scenario established with ANEEL. The other challenge would be expanding the energized 19R substation, and producing the shortest previously scheduled shutdown intervals.
With the aim of increasing Furnas' operating income, the delivery period is also brought forward with the anticipation of its entry into operation and the corresponding return to Furnas.
“ The Practice is prepared for the effort to serve our country with an infrastructure capable of supporting its growth, and for that, in addition to the Energy, Sanitation and Housing markets, it is dedicated to expanding its operations in the oil & gas market.”, informed Sergio Murilo.
