Sad statistic in Brazil warns of working conditions in the country and results in the launch, this month, of the Work Accident Prevention campaign (Canpat 2019) by the government, unions and workers.
A sad statistic haunts the country, every 3 hours and 40 minutes a person dies as a result of an accident in the workplace.
According to data from the Digital Observatory for Occupational Safety and Health, between 2012 and 2018, 17.200 deaths were recorded due to an incident or illness related to work activity.
This Observatory was developed and is maintained by the Public Ministry of Labor in cooperation with the International Labor Organization within the framework of the Smartlab Forum on Decent Work.

Regarding the number of death cases, the numbers had been decreasing from 2014 to 2017 (from 2.659 cases to 1.992), but in 2018 there was an increase and 2.022 cases were registered.
What is frightening is the number of accidents at work, every 49 seconds, a case happens in Brazil, and from 2014 to 2018, 4,7 million incidents of this type were recorded.

According to Leonardo Mendonça, national coordinator for the Defense of the Work Environment, from the Labor Public Ministry, Brazil still has a lot to evolve in prevention systems and that many companies still prioritize production instead of providing cleaner and safer environments for workers. worker.
The launch of Canpat 2019, a joint initiative of the federal government, the Public Ministry of Labor and employers' and employers' entities, aims to work towards raising awareness among the parties involved.
