2W Energia is developing a solar plant capable of generating energy for 300 homes in Ceará. The venture promises to generate 700 jobs for residents of the region.
2W Energia will install a solar energy generation park in the municipality of Icapuí, located on the east coast of Ceará. In total, investments of R$ 800 million will be invested, with estimated to generate 700 jobs during the construction phase. According to Cláudio Ribeiro, an executive at the company, the works should begin in the second half of next year, and the conclusion of the solar power plant is scheduled for June 2024.
Solar plant in Ceará will have a capacity of 204 MW
The 2W Energia development in Ceará, which received the name of solar kairos, will have an installed capacity of 204 MW, enough to generate solar energy for 300 homes per month. The project will be installed in an area of 650 hectares.
The solar energy generated will be sold on the free market. 2W Energia is already negotiating with suppliers of painéis solares and equipment, as well as designers. According to the company executive, the solar plant will use part of the infrastructure of the wind energy park Kairós which already had its work started in the same municipality in Ceará.

The CEO points out that the company found an essential solar radiation measurement in this area and created this solar energy project.
It is a hybrid project, considering that it uses the same location and the same infrastructure as the wind project. Together, the two renewable energy projects exceed R$ 2,2 billion in investments.
Of this amount, the wind energy park, which has an installed capacity of 261 MW (enough to supply 2 million homes), will absorb R$ 1,4 billion. Ribeiro says that 2W Energia is certainly becoming one of the three biggest investors in the state of Ceará in the segment.
300 jobs have already been generated at the hybrid renewable energy plant
The executive points out that there are already 400 professionals working in the municipality of Ceará. At its peak, construction of the wind power plant should generate 3 direct and indirect jobs. Ribeiro adds that the workforce used in the projects is primarily local, contributing to the qualification of workers in one of the fastest growing sectors in the state of Ceará.
2W Energia is generating jobs and training a rotating workforce, bearing in mind that there will be several clean energy investments, professionals end up being hired for other projects by other companies.
The giant solar plant is in the construction site installation phase, construction of access roads, digital suppression and earthworks. The development will be installed in two phases. Where in the first one a capacity of 112,5 MW will be installed. this phase will have 25 turbines produced by Vestas at its factory in Aquiraz.
Banco do Nordeste is financing phase 1 of the project, with a contribution of R$ 422 million. The second phase, scheduled for the first half of 2023, will have an installation of 148,5 MW, with 33 wind turbines of 4,5 MW each.
2W Energy invests in the social sector
2W is also investing approximately R$10 million in social compensation in Icapuí, creating projects for the community. One of them is the financial subsidy for the elaboration of the Master Plan of the Municipality of Icapuí, in partnership with the Municipality of the municipality and the academic environment of Ceará.
According to the director of the Kairós project, Luis Rahuan, the company believes that the development of the Kairós Wind Complex will result in an important advance in the development of the region, with the generation of jobs and expansion of tax collection.
