The action is intended to find new agents interested in the supply of natural gas that meet market expectations.

The deadline for the coordinated public call to acquire natural gas launched by fuel distributors in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceara, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Norte and Sergipe has been extended to January 31, 2019. launch of the ANP of the TPC (Public Contribution Receipt) which seeks to promote measures to encourage competition in the natural gas sector. According to George Ventura, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Pipeline Gas Distributors (Abegás), the decision to extend the public call for the acquisition of natural gas is a strategic action aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the sector, starting with the launch of the taking of the ANP.

Sector agents will have a better opportunity to prepare their expressions of interest, since the points to be dealt with in the TPC will have a positive impact on the public call of the distributors, promoting a significant improvement in the quality of the proposals to be presented.

This extension was also presented by the piped natural gas distribution concessionaires that operate in the South, Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil. All concessionaires are served by the same transport pipeline (Bolivia-Brazil). The expected completion of the process throughout 2019 will also be maintained for the second stage.

Coordinated public calls are used to provide better market conditions for users of piped natural gas, with the aim of diversifying supply sources. The initiative brings together distributors in the Northeast such as Algas, Bahiagás, Cegás, PBGás, Copergás, Potigás and Sergás, adding up to a potential of 9,4 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Public notices with information about the initiative can be found in Portuguese and English on the websites of each distributor. Regarding the concessionaires that operate in the South, Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil, the total acquisition volume is approximately 10 million cubic meters per day, and the companies are Compagas, GasBrasiliano, MSGás, SCGás, and to SulGas. With all this acquisition, the initiative aims to find new agents interested in the supply of natural gas, meeting the expectations of the current market.
