Macaé already has the installation license for the new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN), which together with TEPOR creates the largest natural gas hub in Brazil
Good news for Macaé! The installation license for TEPOR – the city's new port, was unanimously approved on the last 11th and published on Friday (14th), by the Special Commission for Environmental Control (Ceca). In addition to generating jobs and new investments for Macaé, the consolidation of TEPOR represents a milestone for Rio de Janeiro in light of the resumption of the global oil, gas and energy market.
The new port of Macaé will facilitate the logistics for the exploration and production operations that take place in the Campos and Santos Basins. It is worth mentioning that Macaé already has the installation license for the new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN). Together, the projects create the largest natural gas hub in Brazil, which will definitely transform the municipality into the “Energy City”.
The new port guarantees Rio de Janeiro more investments, new businesses and, above all, the generation of jobs.
“For the State, Macaé consolidates itself as the main strategic base of operations for oil activities, responsible today for guaranteeing the generation of jobs and more investments. And in this sense, our city becomes the protagonist of a new story of development and prosperity for all of Rio de Janeiro, an important role that we defend at Alerj and together with Governor Cláudio Castro”, highlighted state deputy Chico Machado.

“Tepor is a key element in transforming Macaé into the Energy City. The project also represents the confirmation of more than R$ 25 billion in investments that will be consolidated in the city over the next five years”, highlights the Secretary for Economic Development, Rodrigo Vianna.
Over the course of a decade, the process of making TEPOR viable involved several political actors and business leaders from Macaé and the State, responsible for defending the installation of the project as a viable way to promote development and strengthen the economy of all cities in the North of Fluminense.
After the completion of this licensing phase, Tepor is now entering the stage of signing the investor contracts that will contribute the necessary resources for the execution of the works.
