New radars are now in operation on highways in the interior of São Paulo. Check out the locations and permitted speeds!

São Paulo highways are getting 20 new radars, with 25 more expected soon! Operations will begin between January 17th and 20th. Find out where the equipment is and how it can impact your traffic safety. The measure promises to reduce accidents, but it could generate controversy among drivers!

You can even step on the accelerator, but in highways from the interior of São Paulo, haste can be costly.

The installation of new radars promises to put an end to speeding and change the way drivers travel on some of the state's busiest roads.

The initiative, which is already underway, seeks to increase safety and reduce accidents, but will it please everyone?

According to information released by EcoNoroeste, a concessionaire that manages several highways in the region, 20 new radars will begin operating between January 17 and 20, 2025.

This new feature is part of a package that foresees the installation of 45 pieces of equipment in total, in sections that register high rates of severity and fatality, previously mapped and approved by Artesp (São Paulo State Transport Agency) and DER-SP (Department of Highways).

Where will the new radars be?

The equipment was strategically distributed on several important highways in the state. Below, check out the details about the locations and maximum permitted speeds:

Washington Luis Highway (SP-310)

In operation since January 10, 2025:

  • Kilometer 394+460m, Catiguá (capital-interior direction): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.
  • Kilometer 424+270m, Cedral (capital-interior direction): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

In operation from January 17, 2025:

  • Kilometers 434+600m, 438+160m and 446+000m, in São José do Rio Preto and Mirassol (capital-interior direction): 90 km/h for all vehicles.

In operation from January 20, 2025:

  • Kilometers 240+400m (São Carlos), 271+550m (Araraquara) and 390+290m (Catanduva): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Brigadier Faria Lima Highway (SP-326)

In operation since January 10, 2025:

  • Kilometer 343+760m, Jaboticabal (interior-capital direction): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

In operation from January 17, 2025:

  • Kilometer 363+510m, Taquaral (capital-interior direction): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

In operation from January 20, 2025:

  • Kilometers 328+000m (Guariba), 343+960m and 351+900m (Jaboticabal): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Highways SP-333 (Carlos Tonanni, Nemesio Cadetti, Laurentino Mascari and Dr. Mário Gentil)

In operation from January 20, 2025:

  • Kilometers 104+540m and 118+800m, in Jaboticabal (direction Ribeirão Preto-Borborema): 110 km/h for light vehicles and 90 km/h for heavy vehicles.
  • Kilometers 145+200m and 173+320m, in Taquaritinga and Itápolis: 100 km/h for light vehicles and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles.

Why were these locations chosen?

The choice of sections for the installation of radars was not random.

According to EcoNoroeste, the points were defined based on studies that identified critical areas with the highest rate of serious and fatal accidents.

Approval by Artesp and DER-SP guaranteed the technical and legal viability of the operation.

Additionally, we bring Radars have the function of educating drivers and preventing accidents, more than simply generating fines.

However, the application of penalties will be the responsibility of DER-SP, which will also be responsible for processing records and charging for violations.

Actions planned for the future

The new radars represent just one part of a larger plan to modernize the highways.

EcoNoroeste's concession contract with the São Paulo government provides for improvements to road infrastructure, such as duplications, constant maintenance and improved signage.

These actions aim to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for users.

Road safety is a priority, but drivers will also need to pay extra attention and adapt their habits.

Impact on drivers' routine

The news of the installation of new radars is already generating debates among drivers and experts.

While some argue that the measure is essential to save lives, others criticize what they consider an increase in punitive monitoring.

The data, however, is clear: reducing speed in critical areas can significantly reduce the number of fatal accidents.

It remains to be seen whether driver awareness will keep pace with the implementation of this new technology.

A new era on São Paulo highways

With the operation of these new radars, the promise is of safer and more controlled traffic.

However, it is undeniable that the changes will require greater commitment from drivers to traffic rules. After all, Road safety starts with responsible choices behind the wheel.

And you, what do you think of this new measure? Will the new radars actually improve safety or just generate more fines? Comment below!

What kills more, speed or the lack of cameras in cities to catch criminals? How many innocent people, many of them family men, die every day due to constant robberies. While thousands of **** are let out to roam... Maybe it's because of overwork. The State can't take care of the people's safety, but it prohibits weapons. Why is that? Changing things a bit, it's fair that the INSS deducts millions from workers' salaries for many years and doesn't return them. They simply disregard them. This is confiscation or theft... Yes, I'm talking about the review of your entire life, RVT. Funny, right? Where is the STF's Legal Security... When trust in the State and the LEGAL SYSTEM is lost, it's a sign that Brazil is getting worse and worse. Retirees can't even buy medicine or support themselves, let alone travel... Hypocrisy in Brazil is disguised. You are the scum of society, a disgrace, am I wrong?

They are not concerned about road safety but rather about collecting more money from fines.

The biggest HYPOCRISY is for a citizen to criticize EVERYTHING and not even know how to spell a word correctly… IT'S HYPOCRISY MY DEAR, NOT *HYPOCRISY*…🤮🤮🤮🤮
