From phenotype to gene: how to investigate a genetic etiology?

In this course, students will learn about the process of genetic investigation, from phenotype analysis to identifying possible genetic causes of diseases.

The course will be in person and will take place in Fiocruz laboratories, providing a practical and rich experience for participants.

Physiology of vector insects

Students will have the chance to explore the physiology of insect vectors, organisms that are fundamental in the transmission of diseases such as dengue, zika and malaria.

The course aims to understand the biological aspects of these insects to improve epidemic control strategies.

HIV: virological, immunological and host genetic aspects

This in-person course will cover aspects of HIV, including the interaction of the virus with the immune system and the genetic implications of the hosts.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the fight against HIV and new therapeutic approaches.

Inclusion, health and teaching practices: education for diversity

This remote course aims to discuss teaching practices that promote inclusion and health, focusing on how education can be a powerful tool to deal with diversity issues in the health context.

Molecular techniques applied to the detection of Leishmania spp. in their phlebotomine vectors

In this course, students will learn the molecular techniques used to detect Leishmania spp., the parasites responsible for leishmaniasis, in their vectors, the sandflies.

The course will be in person and will allow participants to gain in-depth knowledge of the diagnostic methodologies for these tropical diseases.

Application criteria and details about the selection process

To participate, interested parties must register between November 21 and 28, 2024. Registration is done online, through electronic form available on the Fiocruz Virtual Campus pages for each course.

In addition to filling out the form, you will need to send a letter of interest, which must demonstrate the reason why the candidate wishes to participate in the course.

Another important detail is that each candidate can only enroll in one course, since the selection is made exclusively for each vacancy.
