If you are a health professional or social activist and are looking for a unique opportunity to specialize without spending anything, this is the moment.

A Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), through its School of Government in Brasília, has vacancies open for the second edition of an entirely free specialization course in Popular Education in Health, focusing on strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS).

The program, which will have 240 places divided into six in-person classes, is an important step in the training of professionals engaged in promoting public health and strengthening popular participation policies in the SUS.

Scheduled to start in 2024, the free specialization in Popular Education in Health from Fiocruz It is aimed at health professionals and social activists from different regions of Brazil, offering in-depth training on essential practices and knowledge in public health.

The course is in person and will last 12 months, totaling a workload of 360 hours, and aims to train participants to work in implementation of the National Policy for Popular Health Education (PNEPS-SUS).

Throughout the course, students will learn to create spaces for reflection and dialogue on educational practices, integrate technical knowledge with popular knowledge and promote health actions in their regions of operation.

According to Fiocruz, the objective is to train professionals who not only work directly in public health, but who also contribute effectively to consolidation of a more inclusive and participatory SUS.

Vacancies and training centers

To facilitate access to the course, Fiocruz distributed the vacancies between six training centers located in different regions of the country.

Each hub will have 40 vacancies and will be aimed at both professionals from the host city and candidates from nearby cities, which expands the program's reach and accessibility.

The poles are:

  • Northern Region: Palmas, TO
  • Northeast Region 1: Eusebio, CE
  • Northeast Region 2: Recife, PE
  • South: Passo Fundo, RS
  • Midwest region: Brasilia, DF
  • Southeast: Vitoria, ES

The distribution of vacancies will occur strategically, ensuring that professionals from different regions have access to this high-level training.

Half of the vacancies will be reserved for candidates residing up to 50 km away from the host city, while the other half will be reserved for interested parties from other locations..

Registration and selection process

Registration for the course will be open from October 21 to November 21, 2024, exclusively through the SIGA platform.

The selection process will consist of two stages, where candidates will undergo an analysis of their Letter of Intent and CV., both with grades from 0 to 10 and specific weights for the composition of the final score.

According to Fiocruz, the Letter of Intent will be essential to understand the candidate's motivations and how it intends to contribute to the development of the SUS and popular health education practices.

This detailed analysis will allow the institution to select profiles aligned with the course proposal, which seeks to develop leaders in the promotion of public health..
