New firefighter competition 2025: dozens of Brazilian states announce authorizations for a new public competition that aims to fill more than 3 vacancies for soldiers and officers

Fire Department – Paraná
The Military Police and the Fire Department of Paraná already have a defined organizing committee, the IBFC. The contract has already been signed and the expectation is that the notice will be published in the next few days. There will be 1.700 vacancies for PM and between 300 and 600 in the 2025 firefighter competition.

Fire Department – Rio de Janeiro
The 2025 Rio de Janeiro Fire Department competition has already been defined and a notice is expected to be published in 2024 or, at the latest, in early 2025. There will be 144 vacancies for soldiers and another 50 for combat officers. The company Idecan was chosen to lead the competition.
Fire Department – Amapá
In the state of Amapá, 280 vacancies are expected in the 2025 firefighter competition for the position of Officer, with salaries that can reach R$8,2 thousand. The organizing board of the competition is the Getúlio Vargas Foundation.
Fire Department – Mato Grosso
Another firefighter competition in 2025, which already has a defined board, is in the state of Mato Grosso. The chosen company is Selecon. However, it has not yet been announced how many vacancies will be offered in the public competition.
Fire Department – Maranhao
The state of Maranhão plans to hold a competition with 1.000 vacancies for soldiers. The committee has already been formed, but the board that will be responsible for the competition still needs to be officially announced.
Fire Department – Bahia
The government of Bahia has authorized a public selection process for firefighters with a total of 90 vacancies. Opportunities will only be offered for the position of Officer.
Fire Department – Federal District
The Federal District will offer 356 vacancies for the public selection process for firefighters, with opportunities for soldiers and officers. The notice has already been authorized, but the selection board has not yet been hired.
Fire Department – Minas Gerais
Finally, in the state of Minas Gerais, there are 329 vacancies available in the 2025 firefighter competition for soldiers and officers. The public competition has already received authorization, but has not yet hired the panel.
All about the main positions in the competition
Most of the vacancies are for officer positions, where they are classified as Aspirant, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel.
Entry is through Officer Training Course (CFO). The competitions for this position are more competitive and last approximately 2 years. The CFO differs from the CFSD mainly because it requires a bachelor's degree in Law.
Another important position is that of enlisted personnel, where the ranks are as private, corporal, sergeant and sub-lieutenant. After passing the course, the student soldier will begin the course that lasts between 8 and 10 months. The graduation to military firefighter soldier, the first rank of the enlisted career, comes after completion of the CFSD.
