With the aim of increasing the sustainability of the state of Paraná (PR), Ponta Grossa will inaugurate the public biogas thermoelectric plant this Friday (30), the first in Brazil.
The first public biogas thermoelectric plant in the country will be inaugurated, in Ponta Grossa (PR) this Friday (30th), at 10am. The presentation of the plant will be carried out by the City of Ponta Grossa, together with the Municipal Secretary of the Environment. Invitations began to be distributed on Tuesday (27) and one of the authorities who will attend the event will be former mayor Marcelo Rangel, who thanked the current mayor, Elizabeth Schmidt (PSD): “The mayor’s invitation moved me. We finally made it, and the first in Brazil will be in Ponta Grossa. All of our dedicated efforts towards the environment have paid off.”

Ponta Grossa (PR) and sustainability
Among the 100 largest Brazilian cities, Ponta Grossa (PR) is the 13th best in sustainability and infrastructure, with 53 works that are at full steam. In addition to the area of sustainability, Ponta Grossa (PR) has also invested in education and sports, with six fields society installed in recent years.
In 2021, Mayor Elizabeth Schmidt participated in the announcement of the expansion of Ambev, which invested BRL 370 million in its plant in Ponta Grossa (PR) with the aim of expanding beer production capacity. This is just one of many other investments to come in the municipality.
Renewable energy in the state of Paraná (PR)
Last year, the governor of Paraná, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, sanctioned Law Nº 20.435, which guarantees the continuity of the Rural Night Tariff program until 2022 and aims to expand the supply of energy to the rural environment of the state, through the use of available sources, in particular solar and biomass energy.
The main idea is to offer tax incentives, financing and equalization of interest rates. In addition, promotional content will be released to encourage the use of renewable energy by producers, their organizations and representative entities.
