Marine and offshore electrical cable manufacturer CCI CableService has signed a contract with SBM Offshore. Petrobras expects to receive the unit in 2022
To meet Petrobras' specifications for the Mero 2 project, where the FPSO Sepetiba will be installed, SBM Offshore said it ordered electrical cables from CCI CableService in the order of US$ 2,37 million in the first order.
The unit used for the Mero 2 project will have a Fast4Ward design which incorporates the company's new construction, multipurpose hull combined with several standardized topsides modules.
Petrobras signed a letter of intent with SBM Offshore for a 22,5-year lease and operation of FPSO Mero 2 in June 2019. The FPSO, destined for the Mero field, in the Santos Basin – about 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, will be built by the BOMESC Offshore Shipyard, in Tianjin, China.

The Mero 2 FPSO will be designed to produce 180.000 barrels of oil per day. It will have a water injection capacity of 250.000 barrels per day, associated gas treatment capacity of 12 million standard cubic meters per day and a minimum storage capacity of 1,4 million barrels of crude oil. The weight of the FPSO surface modules will be around 33.000 tons. The FPSO will be anchored at approximately 2.000 meters of water depth. The delivery of the FPSO is scheduled for 2022.

It is worth remembering that Petrobras signed at the beginning of this year a letter of intent with MISC Berhad for the charter and supply of an FPSO to be installed in the Mero 3 offshore project in Brazil
