Foresea achieves API SPEC Q2 certification for the fourth year, standing out in Operational Quality Management in offshore drilling in Brazil.
Foresea stood out again this year by securing, for the fourth consecutive time, the certification awarded by the American Petroleum Institute. This international recognition underscores the company’s commitment to operational excellence, especially in a sector as demanding as offshore drilling. The certification reinforces Foresea’s position as a reference in the market, demonstrating its ability to maintain high quality standards.
In addition to being a pioneer in Brazil with its entire drilling fleet certified to the API SPEC Q2 standard, Foresea continues to lead innovative initiatives to enhance the quality of its services. Continuous achievement of the Quality Management certification is a testament to the company's dedication to improving its processes. Foresea's technical expertise contributes significantly to its prominence in the competitive offshore market.
Quality Management System
Implemented by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the standard establishes which suppliers to the oil and natural gas industries comply with demanding Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines. These criteria include control of operational processes, pursuit of continuous improvements and provision of consistent results with a view to increasing customer satisfaction.

Our commitment to operational excellence is demonstrated by the certifications we have obtained and the results of the regular audits we participate in. It is a source of immense pride for Foresea to be the pioneer and still the only offshore drilling company to achieve API Q2 certification for all its asset units in Brazil. CEO Rogério Ibrahim emphasizes this remarkable achievement.
Rigorous Auditing and Inspections
The audit was conducted in person in Macaé (RJ), where the company base, in addition to the Norbe VI and Norbe IX rigs, between September 09 and 20, with the presence of two API auditors with international experience. Among the positive aspects highlighted by the auditors are the knowledge, competence and experience of the team members, as well as the process integration quality management for offshore units. The criticality of suppliers according to the assessment of the scope of service was also highlighted.
The previous year, API CEO Mike Sommers visited Brazil, marking the first time he had observed the activities of an offshore drilling rig. Together with a team from the institute and several Foresea executives, Sommers monitored operations on the Norbe IX drillship, located in the Sagitário exploratory well in Campos Basin. He praised offshore work, highlighting the efficiency with which Brazilian workers are producing essential supplies to ensure energy security at a critical period in world history.
Excellence in Certification
Quality Management certification, especially the API SPEC Q2 standard, plays a vital role in defining industry standards by providing a robust framework for control of operational processes. This not only strengthens the company's foundation, but also consolidates the integration of processes. Frequent and rigorous audits ensure that Quality Management certification not just a title, but a living and effective practice that promotes continuous improvements and increased efficiency, directly reflecting the company's operational success and the satisfaction of its customers.
