Green revolution in offshore drilling
Foresea, a renowned company in the offshore drilling segment, has achieved a remarkable achievement in the Brazilian oil and gas market. The company became the first in the sector to fully reuse 100% of waste generated in its maritime and land operations. This sustainability milestone in the sector is the result of the program Zero Landfill, integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies and following the guidelines of the UN Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The journey towards total reuse
In 2019, Foresea launched the challenging Aterro Zero project, aiming to completely eliminate the sending of waste to landfills. In 2022, the company achieved this goal, and in 2023, it made even more progress, managing to reuse all of its waste. According to Heitor Gioppo, COO at Foresea, this success was the result of fine adjustments to the processes, achieving a 99% reuse of more than 1.835 tons of waste in the previous year. Recycled materials included metals, plastics, paper, tetrapacks, batteries, and others, while waste contaminated with oils and greases was co-processed for use in cement kilns.
Innovation and socio-environmental impact
Foresea, under the leadership of Vice President of Sustainability Marco Aurélio Fonseca, not only achieved its environmental objective, but also positively influenced the market. The financial return obtained from the reuse of waste is fully reinvested in socio-environmental projects. This reflects the company's commitment to sustainability and promoting a positive social impact.

Digital technology in sustainability
The conquest of 100% reuse was helped by the implementation of a Digital Sustainability system. This system integrated waste disposal and reuse data and spreadsheets from all company units into a single dashboard. Carlos Júnior, Executive Sustainability Manager, and his team involved the company's managers in digitally updating data, developing new strategies for managing the final disposal of waste, prioritizing recycling and reuse.
