The new renegotiation of the BR 101 contract in Espírito Santo brings innovative advantages for motorcyclists and frequent drivers
The changes in the BR 101 duplication contract in Espírito Santoo, approved by the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), promise transform toll payments in the region. Scheduled to be signed in 2025, the new agreement includes toll licensing for motorcycles and progressive discounts for frequent users of light vehicles.
Toll exemption for motorcycles
One of the main novelties is the full toll authorization for motorcycles. This measure has already been adopted in more recent highway concession contracts and reflects a modernization in tariff policies. Nowadays, motorcyclists pay half the fare at each plaza, but from the validity of the new contract, they have the benefit of travel for free.
According to Marcelo Fonseca, ANTT concession superintendent, this search authorized meets a growing demand and promotes greater equity in the use of highways by motorcycles.

Progressive discounts for frequent users
Another highlight, besides the motorcycles, is the progressive discount for drivers of light vehicles who use the toll frequently. The benefit will be applied from the fifth toll of the same month and will work as follows:
- Discount starts at 5% on the value of the last fare paid.
- For each subsequent ticket, the discount is calculated on the amount previously paid.
- At the end of the month, frequent users can save up to 90% of the total amount, depending on the number of trips taken.
To take advantage of the benefit, it will be necessary to install an electronic sticker (TAG) on the vehicle, allowing automated control of passages.
Rates differentiated by type of track
In addition to the changes for motorcyclists and frequent users, the new contract provides for different rates for single and double lanes. This change reflects a fairer charge, adjusted to the type of infrastructure available to drivers. However, the tariff changes will only be applied after the duplication works are completed.
The tariff adjustment also will be subject to the completion of 90% of the planned works in the new contract, especially during the first three years. This requirement seeks to ensure that services are delivered on time, benefiting users.
Benefits for BR 101 users
the new rules represent an advance in the relationship between performances and drivers. The main benefits include:
- Significant savings for motorcyclists and frequent drivers.
- Fairer charging with rates adjusted to the highway infrastructure.
- Greater transparency in the execution of works and tariff adjustments.
