Here comes history, guys! The Golf GTi MK1, launched in 1974 and with the first versions in 1975, arrived and changed the way we see sports cars.

Volkswagen, which wasn't putting much faith in it, expected to sell around 4.000 cars. But, surprise: 40.000 orders in the queue! The Golf GTi MK1 was the “rocket pocket” of the time, a real little rocket.

Design and details, the charm of the 70s of the Golf GTi MK1

At less than 4 meters long, the Golf GTi MK1 was compact, but full of cunning. Red details, round headlights (what a beautiful thing, right?), and that spoiler which, let's face it, was more to make a splash than anything else. And the wheels? 13-inch iron wheels with 175/70 tires, which also made their mark on the Gol GT and GTS.

Inside the Volkswagen classic

Now, it's just the interior: checkered seats (the first time they appeared in Golf GTi and continue to this day), steering wheel with the symbol of Wolfsburg, and an instrument panel that was already an avant-garde multimedia. And space? Well, even for one big person, you can settle in and enjoy the ride.

Performance and sensations: accelerating the classic

Speaking of the engine, the Golf GTi MK1 had a 1.6 with injection, delivering 110 horses. It may seem small today, but back then, with a car weighing 818 kg, the thing was flying. And the feeling of driving? A journey through time, with precise steering and a roar that encourages you to accelerate more.

The Golf GTi MK1 is not just a car, it's a piece of history On wheels. Almost 50 years later, he continues to win hearts and show where all the Sports DNA that we see in today's cars.
