Toyota Hilux 2025: Chevrolet, Ford and Volkswagen take care, because now 'it's gone bad' for the Chevrolet S10, Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok! The Japanese giant announces the launch of the long-awaited electric Hilux, scheduled to hit the market next year. The stage for this announcement was the prestigious Bangkok Salon, where Noriaki Yamashita, the president of Toyota Thailand, shared the automaker's plans. The information, provided by the agency Reuters, highlights the growing trend of electrification in the pickup truck segment.

Toyota's decision comes in the wake of Isuzu's announcement about the production of the electric D-Max, also for 2025, positioning Thailand as an epicenter of innovation in commercial vehicles. Furthermore, Yamashita revealed the delivery of six Hilux BEV units to Pattaya, reinforcing Toyota's commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. This strategic move puts Toyota at the forefront of automotive electrification and signals a new era for the pickup truck industry.

Electric Hilux promises 250 km of autonomy!

Since its first appearance in December 2022, the electric version of the Hilux, still as a concept, has been causing a buzz. Toyota, however, keeps the technical details under wraps, fueling the market's curiosity and expectations. The proximity of the start of production suggests that the new electric Hilux will be based on the current generation, known for its robustness and reliability.

Speculations point to a possible mechanical similarity with the BZ4x electric SUV, which would include an electric motor with more than 200 hp and a battery system with 71,4 kWh gross and 64 kWh net lithium-ion, promising an impressive range of 250 km per recharge.

The design will be inspired by the Hilux Revo BEV concept, with visual characteristics adapted to the profile of an electric vehicle. Thus, Toyota not only maintains the essence of the Hilux but also adapts it for the future of mobility.

The Hilux 48V pickup arrives in Brazil before the BEV

Interestingly, Brazil will have a taste of the Hilux's electrification before the arrival of the fully electric version. The mild hybrid version, already available in other markets, combines a motor-generator with a 48V battery, offering a significant increase in fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. This configuration will arrive in South America in 2025, promising a balance between power and sustainability.

While the electric Toyota Hilux BEV represents the future, the mild hybrid version symbolizes an important step in the energy transition. Although the production or sale of the Hilux BEV in South America has not been confirmed, expectations are high. The arrival of the electric Hilux not only reinforces Toyota's commitment to innovation and sustainability but also promises to redefine standards in the pickup truck market.

With these advancements, Toyota solidifies its position as a leader in automotive innovation, setting the stage for a greener, more technologically advanced era. The Hilux, an icon among pickup trucks, is about to embark on an electric journey, promising performance, efficiency and, above all, a more sustainable future.
