Government of Ceará announces the inauguration of the second unit in Porto do Pecém. Port work receives investment of more than R$ 700 million

The Government of Ceará recently inaugurated the second unit of the Port of Pecém, which has new facilities: a new entrance gate (Gate 2), another bridge to the piers (Bridge 2) and another berth (Berco 10) . Investment in the port work totaled around R$772,8 million.

From the action, the port terminal's operating potential extends to new actions. The head of the executive branch of the state of Ceará, Camilo Santana, highlighted the need for projects like this one for the development of the state. In addition, it announced that new equipment for the flow of containers will be delivered and investments should be delivered this year, such as the duplication of the CE-155 highway, responsible for interconnecting the Port of Pecém with the BR-222 highway.

“Today we are delivering the result of an important investment that the state has made, these are financing resources, resources raised by the state. We will soon deliver the new route that takes the plates from the steel plant to the port, already in operation. All of this is an important investment to consolidate this strategy”, says Camilo Santana, the governor of Ceará, regarding the work on the Port of Pecém.

Concluding his term of government this year, Camilo Santana made a survey about the almost eight years of administration. “I never imagined facing so many challenges and so many problems, but all I did was dedicate all my energy in my life to building a better, fairer, more humane Ceará with more opportunities for the people of Ceará”, he added.

New equipment for the Port of Pecém

In addition, the new extension of the Port of Pecém will also receive new equipment, such as, for example, the first among three new cranes with electromagnet, from the manufacturer Bardella, which will be used in the fast shipment of steel plates made by Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém ( CSP). Investments in this port in Ceará promoted a result that broke records in 2021, with the movement of 20 million tons in the last year. In the period from January to November of last year, with a growth of more than 40% in relation to the same period of the previous year, when the movement of 14.458.128 tons was accounted for, the flow in the Port of Pecém was exactly 20.405.383 tons.
