Last Sunday, August 21, Click Petróleo e Gás, CPG, carried out a survey to understand the prices that were being charged for gasoline in the state of Santa Catarina (SC) and found that, after the price reduction carried out by Petrobras, there was a significant drop for consumers.

Some cities located on the coast of Santa Catarina (SC) already have the price of a liter of gasoline below R$ 5, counted between the values of R$ 4,90 to R$ 4,99, one of them is Penha, which can be found towards the north, Paraná (PR). Meanwhile, cities facing the Center East have with the value of the varied liter, around R$ 5,20. The decrease in prices occurred after the announcement that Petrobras would be carrying out a new readjustment in August for “domestic price control”. Diesel, however, is still expensive and at a high price, mainly harming truck drivers, who need to fill up their trucks. The value of the liter also varies according to the region you are visiting. For example, in Brusque, Santa Catarina (SC), the price of a liter of diesel is around R$ 7,40.

Fuel readjustment by Petrobras reached almost 5% and impacted consumers in the state of Santa Catarina (SC)

Petrobras' readjustment reached almost 5% and had a direct impact on the values being charged by gas stations to residents of the state of Santa Catarina (SC), going from R$ 3,71 to R$ 3,53 (R$ 0,18 to less per litre).

Some analysts argue that this price drop is due to the elections, which are scheduled to take place during the month of October this year, with an intense dispute between right and left parties, including the former president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Squid da Silva, who will compete with the current president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro

According to Petrobras, the readjustment took place only internally and on a national scale, as they are trying not to pass on the value of gasoline and diesel to the final consumer. The increase, according to the state-owned company, seen over the last two years, was due to the exponential increase in oil barrel prices, optimized due to the war that happened between Russia and Ukraine.

The war between Russia and Ukraine caused the prices of a barrel of oil, as well as other commodities, such as lithium, had a strong shot, impacting global inflation and helping IPCA indices in Brazil to be around double digits, despite showing improvements in recent months, such as biggest deflation seen since 1998, even before the Workers' Party, PT, administered the country.

Meanwhile, Paraná (PR), neighboring state of Santa Catarina (SC), presents gasoline flirting with R$ 6

Meanwhile, the state of Paraná (PR), neighboring Santa Catarina (SC), has gasoline prices flirting with R$ 6, mainly in cities that are part of, or are close to, the border with the people of Santa Catarina. Last Sunday (21), the CPG visited the city of Pontal do Paraná (PR) and some neighboring cities, including in relation to Ilha do Mel and many gas stations were charging around R$ 5,90. In other words, people from Paraná have a difference of more than R$ 1 per liter of gasoline compared to people from Santa Catarina, and it is estimated that this happens mainly due to the higher ICMS rates levied on gas stations.
