Santa Catarina (SC) is one of the leading states in job vacancies with opportunities for citizens with and without market experience.

According to data revealed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) last Friday, August 12, it is estimated that the state of Santa Catarina (SC) is one of the states with the most employed people in all of Brazil and providing job vacancies.  The unemployment rate was reduced to around 3,9% and is one of the lowest existing on a national scale, making the South region one of the poles for hiring in the private sector.

More than 65,8% of the entire population with a workforce (capable of working in the market) is employed with a formal contract or with active contracts, even under the legal entity regime. This was the highest value ever achieved by any Brazilian state. Data were collected through the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad-C) for the second quarter of 2022.

Unemployment rate in Santa Catarina (SC) is around 9,3%

The unemployment rate achieved in the state of Santa Catarina (SC) is lower than the national average and it is estimated that only 5,1% of young people between 20 and 29 years old are not employed in some function, this value is considerably low, since, in the other states, this unemployment rate is around 13%. The state is also a leader in terms of formality, as more than 87% of contractors have a signed work card or a contract proving the existence of an employment relationship. This number is much higher than those obtained on a national scale, which reach only 73%.

Brazil's unemployment rate is 9,3%

According to data recently revealed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the unemployment rate in Brazil is around 9,3%. There are more than 4,3 million discouraged people and more than 10 million unemployed – this number does not include housewives (since they are called a profession), retirees and students in general.

More than 2 job openings will emerge at a shipyard in Itajaí and will be able to accommodate both people from Santa Catarina and people from other states by the year 2029

O  Thyssenkrupp Estaleiro Brasil Sul, located in the city of Itajaí, stated that it intends to start a frigate project which will last until the year 2029. With that in mind, more than 2 direct job openings will arise along with more than 6 indirect jobs. Most employees will be hired without higher education to complete the selection process for welders and other professions in the onshore and offshore environment. The project for the construction of frigates will receive an investment of at least R$ 9 billion and may be extended depending on the performance of the shipyard.

Coastal cities are looking for people with no experience to provide care and this could be an opportunity to change state

Bombinhas, one of the cities on the coast of Santa Catarina (SC), has job openings intended for candidates interested in working with customer service, it is not necessary to have experience or higher education. The majority of the city's income comes from tourism. This is an opportunity for anyone who is thinking of living in the state of Santa Catarina or who does, but has not yet received the job opportunity they were looking for.
