Auction aims to connect important ports, boost cargo transportation and strengthen the railway infrastructure in Southeast Brazil!

O federal government is moving forward with a strategic project that involves granting part of the Railway 118 (EF-118), known as the Southeast Railway Ring.

This ambitious project, which aims to connect the Port of Vitória ao Port of Niteroi, in Rio de Janeiro, is in the preparation phase for a auction which should take place in 2025. The investment planned for the next five years is $ 4,5 billion, according to the esbrasil website.

Structure and phases of the railway project

The project is divided into two main phases: a project greenfield, which starts from scratch, and a project brownfield, which is based on pre-existing structures. In total, the railway will have 577 kilometers long.

O Ministry of Transport is conducting public hearings until January 24, 2025 to fine-tune the auction details.

The first phase of the project involves the construction of approximately 170 km of rails between Anchieta and Port of Açu, in Rio de Janeiro.

Importance of the project and investments in the railway branch

One of the highlights of the project is the Anchieta Branch, which extends from Saint Leopoldina to Anchieta. Presented by OK in August 2024, this branch comprises 90 km, of which 80 km go to Anchieta and 10 km form a loop to the port of Ubu, operated by Samarko.

This segment should receive BRL 6 billion in investments, as part of the counterparts for the renewals of the railway concessions of Vitoria-Minas and Carajas Railway.

Logistical impact and state government vision

The governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, highlighted the importance of railroad for the state, emphasizing the need to improve rail connections with central Brazil.

“In 2025, we need to step up efforts to improve Espírito Santo’s rail connection with the heart of the country. This will be crucial to increasing the volume of cargo transported, and railways are essential for this,” he said.

Railway conclusion and expectations

This project is a vital component of the strategy of federal government to improve transport infrastructure in Brazil.

With the completion of the auction and the subsequent construction of the railroad, the expectation is that the connection between the Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro become a pillar of cargo transportation as iron ore, coal, pig iron, copper concentrate and containers, strengthening the region's economy.

Honestly!!! It won't be in a far-right government. You had your chance, but you didn't do anything!!! On the contrary, you destroyed it!!! I think you're as sick as the former and ineligible ****!!! Our country only grows under PT governments. You need to become aware of this, with all due respect to others. Change your mind because you're completely wrong, my friend, if you'll allow me to address you this way!!! You would do a great service to our nation by changing your opinion!!!

To the defender of ****. The current government is just ****, it went down and taxed the population. Where are the benefits that this government did? Oh, it bought the artists under the Rouanet law. This current one, in desperation, has already spent more than 7 trillion, but there's no point talking to people, politicians who cover their eyes like **** crests.
