Naturgy expands its influence with a network that now exceeds 8.300 km

Naturgy, a giant in the supply of natural gas, has extended its distribution network to an impressive 8.300 kilometers, establishing a robust presence in Southeast Brazil. This advance positions the company as a key supplier in 61 municipalities, covering a customer base of more than 1,1 million. The focus of this expansion has been the capital, the interior and the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the south of São Paulo, establishing Naturgy as a leader in the supply of natural gas in the area.

The majority of this extensive network, around 5.122 kilometers, serves the capital and the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, benefiting more than 998 thousand customers in 19 municipalities. The network also extends across the interior of the state, covering 1.334 kilometers and serving more than 89 thousand customers in 24 municipalities, in areas such as the North and Northwest Regions of Fluminense, Baixada Litorânea, Serrana Region, Médio Paraíba and Central South of the State.

Naturgy's significant contributions to regional development

Over the past two and a half decades, Naturgy has been a driving force in the development of natural gas infrastructure in Brazil, with a accumulated investment exceeding R$10 billion in the state of Rio de Janeiro alone. This investment resulted in the generation of 14 thousand direct and indirect jobs, and it is estimated that more than 40 thousand vacancies have been created due to the company's investments since 1997. Naturgy not only modernized the existing infrastructure but also significantly expanded its distribution network to more than 6 thousand kilometers in the State of Rio de Janeiro, doubling its number of customers. This effort has made Rio de Janeiro the state with the highest level of gasification in Brazil, where 25% of households have access to natural gas, compared to a national average of just 3%.

Naturgy's leadership in the natural gas and CNG markets

Naturgy stands out not only for the extent of its network, but also for the diversity of markets it serves, including homes, businesses, industries, thermal generation and vehicular natural gas (CNG) stations. It is the largest gas distributor in the country in terms of sales volume for the thermoelectric market and leader in the CNG market. The company operates its distribution and trading activities in Brazil, purchasing natural gas from Petrobras and distributing it through its vast network to provide its customers with an essential resource. In Rio de Janeiro, Naturgy is regulated by the State Energy and Basic Sanitation Regulatory Agency (Agenersa), while in São Paulo, supervision is the responsibility of the State Sanitation and Energy Regulatory Agency (Arsesp).

This substantial growth in natural gas distribution infrastructure by Naturgy not only strengthens its position as a leader in the sector, but also underlines its commitment to sustainable development and innovation in the Southeast region. As the company continues to expand its network, the benefits extend not only to its direct customers, but also drive economic development and job creation in the region, highlighting the strategic importance of natural gas as an energy resource in Brazil.
