Considered one of the largest companies in the field of renewable energy, EDP Renováveis guarantees that more solar energy projects will be developed with Walmart

Many companies are increasingly adhering to the use of solar energy in their ventures. A partnership was signed on Monday, the 13th, between the Portuguese company, EDP Renováveis, and the multinational, Walmart. The signed projects will be developed in the units present in seven US states. Where a capacity of 38,3 MW will be generated and distributed, in ground assembly projects and even roofs. The expectations of the companies aim, mainly, to direct the multinational to develop more sustainable practices, using renewable energy.

What are the benefits of the partnership between Walmart and EDP Renováveis for solar energy projects?

Among the 51 projects signed between the companies that establish the partnership, 39 of them were signed in the period between 2020 and 2021. In total, 7 American states benefited from clean energy, in which we can mention: Arizona, California, South Carolina, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland and New Jersey. As previously mentioned, the installed capacity will generate 38,3 MW per year.

With this amount of clean energy being generated, it will be possible to prevent them from being produced and emitted into the atmosphere or thrown into landfills, 27,1 tons of carbon dioxide or 9,2 tons of recycled waste. The partnership, which has been in place since 2020, is due to the company's good planning, considered the fourth largest producer of renewable energy in the world. Thus, as it is a supermarket, the best and most viable way found to generate solar energy was by installing the ground and roofs.

For EDP Renováveis, "the latest equipment in terms of environmental innovation will be used, EDPR has been working with Walmart to support the creation of a pioneering process of ecological solar pollination, namely through the assembly of a set of solar panels on the ground in the distribution center of the North American multinational in Laurens, South Carolina".

So far, there is no prediction when other US states or countries that have Walmart branches will also benefit with the installation of solar energy. However, a renewable energy project conducted by a large and renowned company in the sector may encourage others to develop the same plan. And thus, reducing the emission of polluting gases.

During the execution of a previous project, carried out in 2019, between the solar energy company and Walmart, it ended up being awarded Large Scale Project of the Year by Solar Builder Magazine. During the year in question, EDPR North America's distributed generation portfolio in New Jersey consisted of 5 solar installations for Walmart Bayonne Supercenter.

Partnership between EDP Renováveis and Walmart will be excellent for the production of clean energy
