CEARENSE STARTUP DEVELOPS TECHNOLOGY THAT REDUCES TEMPERATURE ON THE SURFACE OF MODULES.

Last summer brought record heat that raised an alarm in the electricity sector. Extreme temperatures and prolonged heat waves not only reduce the performance of photovoltaic panels, but can also reduce their useful life. This scenario is worrying, as forecasts indicate that these extreme weather conditions tend to repeat in 2024 and subsequent years.

Impact of Heat on Photovoltaic Modules

Photovoltaic panels, largely composed of semiconductors, suffer from high temperatures, which affect energy production performance, resulting in a significant reduction in the power generated. This occurs because excessive heat alters the dynamics of the materials, compromising the efficiency of the modules.

Innovative Solutions to Mitigate Climate Effects

The market is already looking for solutions to avoid damage and investment losses with installed systems and new solar plant projects. In this context, the figure of Ismael Mendes emerges, a 43-year-old inventor and researcher from Ceará. Ismael developed and tested a innovative technology that promises to revolutionize the solar market.

The Innovation Journey

Ismael's journey began in a small 30m² laboratory in Fortaleza, Ceará. Over time, he expanded his workspace to 250m² and is now preparing for a new 1.500m² factory in the Pecém port complex. With the partnership of an economist partner, founder of an automobile industry, Ismael improved his business strategy and transformed his startup, QNQ Neoindústria, into an innovative and scalable project, receiving international awards.

👉☀️The inventor of the product himself demonstrates how it works below, check it out:

The Revolutionary Technology: TOPSUN® I and II

Ismael's innovation culminated in the creation of TOPSUN® I, the first global technology capable of reducing the temperature of photovoltaic modules by up to 8ºC, increasing energy efficiency by 21,7% for 14 days, using just 50 ml of water per module. This technology reduces water waste by 100 times compared to the normal cleaning procedure. The successor, TOPSUN® II, extends the thermo-repellent effect for up to 90 days.

International Recognition and Market Impact

QNQ Neoindústria presented its innovations at the “Future Innovation Summit” in Dubai, where TOPSUN® I and II were awarded as the “best sustainability product of the year 2023”. The startup also participated in the XIX Ibero-American Regional Meeting, where it presented the efficiency of nanotechnological cleaning of photovoltaic panels, proven by tests conducted by the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Piauí.

Efficiency and Sustainability: The Future of Solar Power Plants

The technology developed by Ismael offers two main applications: cleaning the panel surface with a pre-film of nano crystals, and the application of a protective film made up of micro crystals and nano wires, which can last up to 3 months. Compared to traditional cleaning, the solution saves 99% of water per module and avoids detergent residue.

Brazilian Solution to a Global Challenge

With extreme heat forecast for next summer, finding solutions to protect and improve the performance of photovoltaic cells is crucial. While the largest solar panel manufacturers are looking for more resistant modules, Ismael Mendes' innovation, from Ceará, stands out as a unique and efficient solution – a true example of Brazil's potential to face global challenges with creativity and technology.
