Google collects and stores thousands of user information. Learn how to select and delete this information and how to have more privacy on the internet.

Searches made in Google are collected and stored in order to continue the algorithm. It is through this collection of interests that ads and advertisements are recommended, which ends up generating discussions and doubts about the security present on the internet and the use of networks.

Google can store all kinds of information, such as search history, location and even behavior patterns. However, it is possible to delete this data stored by Google during navigation.

How to have more privacy on the internet

In Google's home panel, there is the first data, called "personal information", such as email, name, date of birth, telephone and gender. This information present on the internet can be hidden, preventing it from being viewed by other people. In addition, through the option offered by Google “Choose what other people can see”, the details of this information can remain discreet.

Google knows what your searches are on the internet and what applications you use, such as Maps, Play Store, Translator, Chrome, among others. In addition, Google also stores your location history as long as the GPS is running, even though Google Maps is not used daily by the user. Search history and videos watched on YouTube are also stored by Google.

So that the public has more privacy and preserve your searched information and data, there is a Google feature that deletes search histories after a maximum time of recording the information. Users can also increase and have more control over their privacy by checking the “Data and privacy” area in their profile, in the “Data from apps and services you use” section, by clicking on the right-facing arrow.

The user, by creating a Google account and an email address in Gmail, accepts the terms and conditions of use, which explain in detail how Google uses the information sources. Therefore, by following the aforementioned steps, the user is able to have more control over what is monitored in each application and prevent unwanted information from leaking.

Deleting and Choosing Information Shared with Google

The user can choose the information he wants to share with Google, as well as erase this information, including, for example, navigation pixels, cookies for sending news and advertisements for virtual stores. He must access Google's general settings website, selecting the "Data and Personalization" section.

The section has the option of “My Activity”, which the user can see everything that is connected to his Google account, in addition to his search history on the Web, Youtube, Gmail, among other applications. With this, he can choose which information he wants to keep and which he wants to delete.

The “Timeline” option offers information on the entire location history linked to the account through a map. The user can choose a date to better analyze what is stored in this option.

To delete any of the information in the “Data and Personalization” section, click on the three dots on the right side of the screen and select the “delete” option.

The choice of information that the user wants to share in the Internet can be done manually. That is, it must disable data storage. This option is at the top of the page, where the user must select one of the options (web activity and apps, location history and YouTube history) and choose between enabling or disabling internet data storage.
