The functioning of the IPVA is the responsibility of each state. However, the vast majority of them grant tax exemption after a certain time of manufacture of the vehicle, which can vary from 10 to 20 years.
The second half of 2022 has started and many people are already thinking about the taxes they need to pay next year, such as the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA).
However, for the joy of many Brazilians, since, currently, due to the amount of money invested, having a vehicle in Brazil is considered a luxury, many drivers will not have to pay the IPVA in 2023. there are rules in several Brazilian states that put an end to the payment of the tax.

How do I access IPVA 2023?
The collection of IPVA 2023 is made by the State Department of Finance (Sefaz), and not by State Traffic Department (Detran), as many think. As much as Sefaz is responsible for organizing calendars and receiving and releasing discounts, Detran supervises payments, since IPVA 2023 is linked to annual licensing, which is the responsibility of Detran. People who do not pay IPVA cannot license their vehicle and issue the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV 2023).
By accessing the website of the Secretariat of Finance or the application created for IPVA 2023, citizens will know how much they should pay in IPVA and will be able to issue a tax discharge form.
The query works through the following steps: access the Sefaz website, click on the “IPVA” icon, select “Consultar debits”, fill in your login and password created on the portal, inform the vehicle registration number and the Renavam number and the system will provide the ticket.
The IPVA 2023 calendar will be made available on your state's Secretariat of Farming website.
