North American fertilizer company Itafos is promoting a significant expansion in the Northeast, opening a new office in the western region of Bahia. The measure aims to accelerate the increase in sales volume and improve logistics operations, reinforcing Itafos' presence in the Brazilian market.
With this expansion, the company projects a continuous growth until 2026, which highlights its commitment to the development of regional infrastructure. This new office not only facilitates logistics but also promotes closer contact with local customers, thus ensuring greater efficiency in operations. This initiative is expected to bring significant positive results for the company to long term.
The special phosphate fertilizer company established in Houston (USA), has a factory in Arraias, Tocantins (TO), and now plans to open a new office in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA). Strategic Logistics Facilitates Expansion in Bahia
The strategic location of the region is advantageous, given its proximity to agricultural areas and just 120 km from the nearest farms on the border between Tocantins and Bahia. THE large-scale production of grains in this area allows Itafos to participate competitively in the market. Improved logistics is a key factor in expansion process from the company.
The president of Itafos in Brazil, Felipe Coutas, highlights that the company's goal with this expansion is to further strengthen ties with local farmers and partners. 'We foresee a continuous growth until 2026, making Itafos a relevant supplier on the national scene, especially in Western Bahia. Our product has full synergy with the plantations in Bahia,' he states.
I-Active Product and Its Importance in Expansion
In 2023, Itafos resumed production of the I-Active, reactive rock phosphate, with the highest solubility index in Brazil and certified by IBD. The company is one of the few in the country to produce this specific item, from a sedimentary source, with high appeal for perennial crops, semi-evergreen, opening new areas, phosphating (soil correction) and systemic fertilization.
The multinational also stands out in the Brazilian market for acid fertilizers with the launch of Super Forte Duo. This product combines high solubility and concentration of sulfur, being a source of rapid absorption by plants, ideal for typical cerrado vegetation.
Production Capacity and Opening of the New Office
In Brazil, Itafos has an annual installed capacity of around 500 thousand tons of fertilizers and 220 thousand tons of sulfuric acid. In 2023, Itafos positioned itself as the third largest company in terms of sulfuric acid distribution volume in the country. This expansion shows the company's continued development in the Brazilian market.
The new Itafos office in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA) is scheduled to open in October 2024. This movement is part of its expansion process, seeking to increase sales volume and improve logistics to more effectively meet demand growing for its products.
