New JAC pickup truck targets the Fiat Toro segment with a competitive price and promises to go head to head with giants like the Toyota Hilux.
JAC Motors launches the T9 in Brazil, its new medium pickup truck that comes to compete with the segment leaders, such as Fiat Toro and Toyota Hilux. With a competitive starting price (around R$200), modern design, onboard technology and good performance, the T9 has the potential to win over consumers looking for a robust, reliable and affordable truck.
New JAC pickup truck can carry more than 1 ton
The T9 pickup truck is a model that, despite being from a Chinese manufacturer that is not so popular in Brazil, such as CAOA Chery, BYD and GWM, delivers a lot of luxury and sophistication in a segment that has only now caught the attention of automakers. The JAC T9 Hunter pickup truck appeared some time ago in Asia and the model has its fans in several countries, and today it is being tested in Brazil.
The Hilux's rival will have its cost-benefit as one of its main selling points, apart from another item that Brazilians care a lot about, which in this case is diesel engines.

Talking a little about dimensions, the pickup is 5,33 m long (the same length as the rival Toyota Hilux), with a wheelbase of 3,10 m, 1,96 m wide and 1,93 m high, weighing in at a light 1976 kg and it also accommodates up to 1090 L of luggage in the bucket and 900 kg at least in the Chinese configuration, which is only gasoline, but in versions with turbodiesel engines it has 1 ton and 50 kg of capacity.
New Hilux rival delivers up to 167 horsepower
The look is another strong point and the JAC pickup truck positively attracts attention. At the front we have a huge hexagonal grille with the JAC name highlighted, a gray appliqué on the bumper and a full LED optical assembly, divided into three elements on each side.
On the sides, the T9 Hunter features a roof rack, as well as 17 or 18 inch wheels and tires for offroad use. At the rear, it has the brand's name written in low relief on the trunk lid, an all-black bumper and headlights with full LED lighting that draw a lot of attention.
Moving on to engines, the JAC pickup truck stands out in response to every Brazilian's request, which in this case is diesel engines. The set chosen by the Chinese automaker is the 2.0 4-cylinder turbodiesel block, generating up to 167 horsepower and 41 kgfm of torque and can be associated with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
Drivetrain for all configurations is 4×4, with no rear- or front-wheel drive versions available. The performance of the T9 Hunter is not impressive, but there is no lack of power to carry the pickup.
