The new businesses that will disembark at the Pernambuco terminal by the year 2027 total more than 46 billion investments

The Port of Suape, located in the metropolitan region of Recife (PE), was already a reference in job creation before the Brazilian shipbuilding sector sank with the scandals revealed by Operation Lava Jato. But the return on top of what is the largest and most important maritime terminal in the Northeast region has already begun, which brings great optimism to the local and national economy with the prospect of thousands of new jobs, the result of the huge investments that are to come. come over.

Currently, 224 companies are installed in the Suape industrial complex, which has generated, according to a survey carried out by the Economic Movement, at least 40 thousand direct and indirect jobs. These businesses will be added to at least another 12 billionaire strategic projects, which together exceed R$ 46 billion, and which are projected to create over 25 new jobs. It is possible to arrive in 2027 with around 60 thousand male and female workers.

The Port of Suape will complete 45 years in 2023. In 2022, the complex had a lot to celebrate, as it closed the year with R$ 354 million in global revenue, which is a 35% increase over what was collected in the previous year (2021 ), when it comes to container handling. Cargo handling also closed the year up by 13% with 24,9 million tons.

Present and future projects that will generate thousands of jobs in Suape

The production plant of green hydrogen da Qair is the future project that leads the prospects for investments in the Port of Suape. About R$ 22,5 billion will be invested, generating almost 3 thousand jobs and pushing Brazil to stand out in the production of this “green gold”.

There is also a huge expectation for the arrival of Maersk, the largest maritime logistics company on the planet. The company, through AP Moller, acquired an important area of the Atlântico Sul shipyard and, by the end of 2023, it should start work on installation of a container terminal, opening competition with Tecon, which has been operating in the area since 2001. There will be R$ 2,5 billion in investments and around 1.600 jobs.

The Abreu e Lima refinery, which has been operating in the Suape port complex since 2014, should gain a new life with more than R$ 5 billion in investments so that one day it will be sold by Petrobras. The return of autonomy: one of Suape's greatest achievements

Suape's autonomy was returned in October 2022, which is one of the greatest achievements of the complex and the Government of Pernambuco. Thus, the port itself will be able to manage its business, making new ventures even faster.
