Good news for shipbuilding in Brazil, the Jurong shipyard invoices participation in the construction of P-82, the tenth FPSO, of the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras, which will operate in Búzios – the largest oil field in deep waters in the world! The work on the platform ship promises to create around 6 jobs in the 2023-2026 period. Remembering that the capixaba company is a subsidiary of the Asian group Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters, from Singapore.

With construction scheduled for next year, the P-82 will be the tenth platform to be installed in Búzios and the 29th unit to go into production in the pre-salt layer, being classified by Petrobras as one of the most modern in the world.

Furthermore, the unit will be one of the largest operating in the global oil and gas industry, with capacity to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd), will process up to 12 million m³ of gas/day – in addition to storing more than 1,6 million barrels.

The Secretary of State for Innovation and Development (Sectides), Ricardo Pessanha, told TribunaOnline that carrying out a work of this size by a company from Espírito Santo is very important for the image of Espírito Santo in relation to other states in the country.

“They are professionals from the State, from areas that are often not valued, and who will now be responsible for a construction of this level. It makes us proud and places us at a high level of competitiveness”, she says. He underscores his satisfaction with the project, which claims to drive an important industrial chain.

Also in an interview with TribunaOnline, the founding engineer of DVF, Durval Freitas, said that most of the parts that make up the ship must be produced here. “It's like a lego, the pieces will be complemented afterwards”, he says. The professional points out that works of this size are new in the state.

Part of the construction of the P-83 will also be carried out in Brazil and more jobs will be generated

Recalling that Singapore's Keppel recently won a contract with Petrobras, worth BRL 14,5 billion, for the construction of its "twin sister", the P-83, expected to be delivered in 2027, where part of the works will take place at the Brasfels shipyard, in Angra dos Reis, and many job openings will open.

The construction of the P-83 will be carried out in shipyards in Singapore, China and Brazil, and will reach a local content percentage of 25%. Its production is scheduled for 2027 and will help expand the field's installed capacity, from the current 600 bpd to 2 million bpd.

P-83, which will be the eleventh unit to be installed in Búzios, where Petrobras is the operator of this field with a 92,6% stake, with CNOOC and CNODC, with 3,7% each.
