Nissan's new pickup truck arrives lowered with a 6 hp V440 engine and promises to change the automotive market. Called Frontier Tarmac, the model arrives with an impressive look for pickup truck lovers.

Nissan Motorsports and driver Chris Forsberg have transformed a Frontier into a very stylish low-slung pickup truck. The fact is that the model, called the Nissan Frontier Tarmac Concept pickup truck, will debut at the Sema Show (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in Las Vegas, USA, which will take place between November 5th and 8th. In this article, we will learn about Nissan's new pickup truck.

New Nissan Frontier Tarmac mid-size pickup truck delivers 440 hp of power

According to the Japanese brand's sports division, the project for Nissan's new pickup truck began in 2021 and aimed to pay homage to โ€œmuscle trucksโ€ (pickup trucks with a sporty appeal, powerful engine, large size and performance) of the past, while also featuring performance improvements to suit the โ€œmodern eraโ€.

A highlight of the Nissan Frontier Tarmac pickup truck is the 3.8-liter V6 engine, which generates 3,8 hp of power and 440 kgfm of torque, carbon fiber throughout and seats from the iconic Recaro brand.

The mid-size pickup's brakes feature two calipers at the rear, one of which is connected to a custom handbrake for practice. drifting, the body has carbon fiber throughout, including the tailgate spoiler, hood scoop, and ultra-wide fenders, which make the body 4 inches wider than a regular Frontier, the carbon fiber contrasts with the โ€œAfterbum Orangeโ€ paint job.

The Nissan Frontier Tarmac pickup truck has been fitted with custom 20-inch carbon fiber Nismo wheels, featuring Yokohama Advan 315/35 tires. Inside, there's a unique carbon fiber steering wheel and Recaro seats, which are covered in custom upholstery.

Main attraction of the new Nissan pickup truck

According to Chris Forsberg, an icon in the racing world, he emphasizes that having a high-performance pickup truck was a very cool thing twenty years ago, however we rarely see lowered pickup trucks nowadays.

As for Kevin Lutz, from the Nissan Motorsports team, owners of pickup trucks like the Frontier love to customize their vehicles, and the goal was to meet this demand with a bold project.

One of the main selling points of the Nissan Frontier Tarmac pickup is its custom suspension, which lowers the truck for an impressive stance. Built with semi-structural shock absorbers, the suspension is fully adjustable and features a C-notch flip kit at the rear. These modifications ensure that the Frontier not only looks like a performance truck, but also drives like one.

Nissan's new mid-size pickup truck was developed in six months

Development of the model took six months and involved close collaboration between Forsberg and the Nissan design team, who worked to ensure every detail reflected the modelโ€™s performance spirit.

Hiren Patel, senior exterior design manager, praised the work done, saying the new Nissan Frontier Tarmac pickup truck is a non-typical take on the Frontier that captures the potential for modification and customization.

Forsbergโ€™s passion for Nissan and performance dates back to 2003, when he purchased a 350Z and got involved in racing with the Nissan Motorsports team. Since then, he has collaborated on a number of projects, including the Frontier Forsberg Edition, showing that his connection with the brand is deep and enduring.

With Nissan's new pickup, Forsberg aims to rekindle interest in high-performance pickups by introducing younger drivers to the possibility of owning a vehicle that combines fun and functionality. A pickup can be fast, fun and still practical.
